A more blatant historical duck than Canelo-GGG?

There are posters here with a fantastic historical knowledge that puts mine to shame, would genuinely love to hear about a more embarrassing, blatant swerve than the one Canelo and Oscar pulled to avoid Gennady Golovkin.

Rid**** Bowe copped stick for binning the WBC title rather than face Lennox Lewis, but 'Big Daddy' had other huge fights available. Duran and Hearns not taking on Mike McCallum was more a financial, business move than anything.

Can anybody remember a guy repeatedly stall, play for time, talk the talk and then vacate to take infinitely smaller fights more shamelessly than Saul Alvarez and 'Golden Boy' have done to avoid THE biggest fight in world boxing?

Calm down my friend. Jack Johnson had to chase Tommy Burns around the globe, but at least that fight did happen.

not quite to the extent you describe but boxing missed out on Trinidad vs Quartey because both guys wanted yo rack up easy defenses and hold out for ODH
i think thst is a shame because Quartey and Trinidad vould have proven to be great rivals.

True, but Tito went on to the biggest pay-days of his career afterwards. De la Hoya, Vargas, Reid, Hopkins. Canelo is taking on an admittedly decent guy called Liam Smith who is virtually unknown even in England.

It's not a duck the fight is '' marinating ''. Liam Smith is a keep busy fight to pick up a belt while Canelo vs GGG '' marinates ''.

It is one of the worst I have ever seen...especially when Canelo called Golovkin into the Ring and said we Dont F**k around and said he would fight Golovkin now....and then handed him His belt....absolute Disgrace.!!!!

Worst still is the HUGE disparity in Total prize money earned for Canelo's last 3 fights versus the total Golovkin earned for his last 3.
The disparity puts Canelo in the 1% bracket and Golovkin as one of the many, 99%.

Of course it made better business sense for Canelo to fight Cotto over Golovkin, and even Khan over Golovkin.
How could Canelo refuse $20M of easy work to dispatch Khan or $5M to face Golovkin?
    Easy choice.

Ha ha yeah well he's more chance of fighting him than Golovkin eh?

You'd of thought that with the knowledge on here there be more examples but other than the usual Bowe v Lewis I've not seen any, what a great move to go from next pay per view star to possibly the biggest clown/coward known in the history of the sport and yet still some would be die Hard fans will try and tell you through gritted teeth that it's a great business move?

Huge fight like Jesse Ferguson and Michael Dokes? Bowe v Lewis was the biggest duck in the history of the sport bar none. Agree with your general point though, Canelo is right up there.

Yes you're right totally obvious choice both safety wise and money wise I don't think anyone can dispute that so why not just say that to his adoring fans instead of all the put the gloves on now charade,do you think it was just in the moment of having KOd Khan, even Oscar and BHop looked taken aback by it,it's not the duck that's lost him fans it's the manner of it?
