Chang would be better recognised if he had fought at the Flyweight limit proper i think.Maybe not in comparison to a high profile American based Fly, but in terms of all-time rating and respect. Canto would likely have fought at light fly as well, had he come along a generation later, and would also have fared worse for it.
You guys simply wouldn't know how much it means to me that there are people who even remember and respect him. Chang was our local hero. He embodied what we Pusan people were about. He was the biggest "**** YOU" to those who looked down us. I saw his recent interview on youtube and when he spoke in thick Pusan accent, I was almost in tears. He really showed us anyone could be a world-beater even if you are from an underprivileged background. When he was active, I was a kid and didn't know much about boxing. I still don't know much but it really warms my heart when you guys break it down why he was a good boxer, which I've never known. I am glad to hear that he was an excellent boxer, maybe one of the best ever in his weight. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Happy holidays!
