completely off topic of this....but its great to hear first hand eye witness accounts of fights and boxing / boxers /gyms of the old days etc......like we have with burt / john garfield etc

not sure how many people are around who can chat about having seen rocky marciano box live...must be a good few..we are talking around 60 years ago....but how many are avid boxing fans who come online and share the memories?...can't be too many.

i've spoken online with two men who witnessed rocky marciano v carmen vingo up close..one is our burt...and the other is an online friend of mine who doesnt come on to forums but has a passion for boxing...both from his younger days and today.

some people might say "big wow" but to know, know online, two people who were in the same place to see one of the all time great heavyweight champions before he became champ...at madison square garden...in the 40's !!

i've tried to get burt and my pal (seymour) in touch, but it didnt work out...not sure if its seymour not being totally computer savvy, his niece put up his youtube videos for him, or if he feels uncomfortable or private...but i might have another go at him about it.

anyway....in my typical style, this is nothing to do about this thread .....and i did post this a few years back before on here i think......this is one of seymours youtubes describing his days going to see big fights at the garden...including the fight against vingo he seen live on the same night as burt was there...
