With the recent stinker from Haye, both Wlad and Vitali hold the belts. It seems that every major contender to the throne has been defeated. Since 2006 the two brothers have put away 18 challengers/champions and share Samuel Peter as an opponent.

With Vitali/Ademek on the horizon marking Klit Bro fight #19 a potential victory could lead the brothers to be looking at a very green division if they want any new opponents.

Seriously, both Bros. could maim a whole division in a year if they stay up to snuff with all the 2nd tier opponents. Theoretically. We'll still get a constant stream of title defenses and there's nothing wrong with that.

Honestly, I can only imagine the following fighters getting their first title shots:
    Robert Helenius
    Jonathon Banks
    Bermaine Stiverne (barely)
    Alexander Povetkin (tick...tick...tick...)
    Denis Boytsov
    Alexander Ustinov (maybe)

So green. I hope they pan out.

Anybody else have input on this debacle?

With the Klitschko's age and history of injuries I don't see them staying too active anymore....just the rigors of going through training camp, in reality the fight is the easy part for them nowadays.

I think that is essentialy what it has come to now.

Wlad has rounded up most of the people who were likley to beat him, and we are now doen to the second teir of options.

If he does hang around for a few more fights we will be in bum of the month club teritory.

My prediction for Wlad's next 3 title defences:

Chris Arreola (after Ahunanya win): Steward said he wants Wlad to fight Arreola next, before Arreola loses again. An easy, thoroughly dominating win. Arreola will bravely charge at Wlad face-first & make him throw more punches than he usually does. Wlad will find his ramrod jab is enough to keep Arreola away, off-balance & badly mess up his face. After round 7, Chris has a deformed mask of torment for a face, & his corner or the ref stops it. Without a stoppage, the brutalised Arreola is soon KO'd.

Tyson Fury (after Chisora win): Sky Sports will hype this up. Despite his god awful boxing ability, the very limited Fury is a 6'9, 260lb behemoth, so he is no tomato can. However, here the size advantages of Fury are minimal & Steward will be in the rival corner. Fury needed a gift decision to beat a very poor fighter in McDermott in '09, but at least stopped him a year later. Wlad totally dominates every round with a boxing masterclass, winning a shutout decision or KO'ing a gassed Fury late. This will become a decent win for Wlad, because with Steward, Fury will go on to capture a recognised Heavyweight title in the future.

    Eddie Chambers
II (after Thompson win): IBF mandatory. Once again Wlad completely dominates Eddie with ease. This time however, Wlad will be more confident, realising that Chambers cannot remotely hurt him, or steal a single round. The first 4 rounds are quite cagey & slow, but in round 5 Wlad steps up the pace, doing damage with his jab, & in round 6, Chambers is sparked cold.

Note: Just because these fights are mismatches, none of these men are "bums" in reality.

Helenius is not a bum. He looks like the heir apparent. Povetkin is proven vs top ten guys. Adamek to has earned a title shot as well. I'm not sure about the rest of the guys on the list. A potential problem could be the alphabet mandatroies...guys like Stiverene who is in line to face Vitali next is not worthy of a title shot and will not be ring magazine ranked.
However the reverse might also be true. Since the Klitschko's have all the belts, Povetkin, Valuev, Boystov, et al can not turn down a title offer. The WBA now belongs to the Kltischko's too.

You know...there is a solution besides bemoaning the lack of serious heavyweight contenders...

Follow the sixteen other, better divisions. :D

(I don't mean just better now. I mean better no matter how good the HW era at any given time. :deal)

Don't get me wrong, those fighters have talent. I was referencing the Joe Louis "Bum club" and how he ran through a slew of 2nd tier (and lesser) opponents. It just feels like we'll see something similar to when Louis plowed through the previously mentioned "bums" and like when Holmes was taking on greenhorns with small records.

there are some solid guys out there but probably cant win, thats the problem the brothers have good wins they can earn but none of these guys seem threatening or interesting wlad has cleaned out his era and is now waiting a new wave of challengers

The fact is all the other ATG champs have fought way more "bums" than Wlad has. We are just so spoiled these days that champs dont fight undeserving contenders anymore. The average boxing fan on here doesnt have any perspective.
