Hey Eastsideboxing, wanted to share the news of highly touted amateur prospect Travis Peterkin making his super middleweight pro debut on January 28th in Yonkers New York against Edgar Sanjurjo. Travis hailing from Brownsville, Brooklyn is a 5 time national JO champ and NY Golden Gloves champion and an extremely humble and polite kid. He is a southpaw with tremendous skill and a mean fighter in the ring. It seems that many people outside of this area are cynical of New York prospects, thinking they are all brash and cocky but that couldn't be farther from the truth for this young man. He is a very nice, respectful and bright kid with a great future ahead of him. Keep a lookout for Travis making noise in the pro circuit very soon! Yes absolutely, Riddick Bowe also. He is continuing the tradition of Brownsville boxing and will not disappoint.
Thank you for that critique. There are still small things he has to adjust when he gets to the pro level and he is working diligently in the gym to do so. No fighter is perfect as you can only hope that a fighter's positives far outweigh his negatives. He is very good at keeping his opponents at the end of his punches and also predicting their punches. He is very fast, sharp and hard to hit cleanly with very solid punching power. Not to mention at 20 years old with still a lot of room to develop physically, he actually has the body frame of a small heavyweight. Sturdily built, big strong legs, big chest. He often spars huge heavyweights in the gym and walks through their punches like nothing.
Tyson: Mike? Yes. Fury? No. All fury has is his height and reach. His boxing skills are downright bs.
He will be premiering at a nice boxing show in Yonkers, NY that will have a good card if anyone in the New York area is interested in tickets.
