Don King was born in Cleveland, Ohio. After dropping out of Kent State University, he ran an illegal bookmaking operation, and was charged for killing two men in separate incidents 13 years apart. The first was determined to be justifiable homicide after it was found that King shot Hillary Brown in the back and killed him while he was attempting to rob one of King's gambling houses.[1] King was convicted of second degree murder for the second killing in 1966 after he was found guilty of stomping to death an employee, Sam Garrett, who owed him $600.

When Don is your manager you don't duck any fighter unless it fits for his agenda.

Does that mean he never did time for the shooting? I know he somehow managed to only do a couple of years for stomping that guy to death....I don't know how the **** managed that.

Don King and Bob Arum have given boxing fans some of the fights in the last 100 years so I dont see a reason to hate either one. If the boxer is so stupid to allow himself to get played by either guy that is on them.

In the last 100 years? Have either even promoted for more than 50 years? Why would you say 100?

How much do you think King had contributed to Tyson's debacle which was brewing way before his first defeat in that seminal fight at the Tokyo Dome...I find these characters fascinating but I'm not privy to the details of their relationship...I must get that book .

Don King is good and bad for boxing. At his best, he's helped organize tournaments to unify titles in a division. At his worst - he holds titles hostage by feeding the champion a steady diet of failed fighters from his stable.

Don King served time for murder, screwed over every fighter he had and started the every fight on PPV trend.

On the bright side, he did create more words than any other man on the planet.
