A peak Lacy at 168 fighting in 1989 how would he have fared?

I feel Hearns would have stopped Lacy at 168 however it would be whoevder landed the big one first, how would Lacy fare against the rest of the top 10 at tat time at 168? Could Lacy have beaten Leonard in `89?

I like Lacy but would favor Hearns, Leonard, Benn, Collins, Toney and Barkley over him. Barkley vs Lacy would be fun for how ever long it lasted. Lacy was a good fighter but far from complete and he would have struggled against the era in my opinion.

It'd be a subzero day in Hell when Lacy beats Ray Leonard... even the 89 Leonard.

Lacy was one dimensional and bang average. Toney, Jones, Eubank, Benn would all have rolled over him. Might have got a decision over Steve Collins.

Hey Xplosive. I loved Collins to bits. The only gambling I've ever really done was when he came to the UK and the bookies were offering 6/1 against Chris Pyatt and 10/1 to 14/1 with Eubank and Benn. Free money !
Steve was made for Jeff Lacy. Maybe Jeff's hands would have gone hitting that brick chin ?

Lacy went life and death with a washed up Omar Sheika.

    Need I say more?

He was so under rated if he had not met Joe Calzhague then he would have never have had the life and soul beaten out of him and we would have seen him finish right at the top

Not only is Lacy under rated but it belittles the Calzhague win as Joe does not get enough credit for it

He would have stood a good chance against a peek Hearns or Colins
Benn and Lacey may have been a bit of a clash of styles . Benn coming from the back foot after they had both thrown combinations would have made Lacy box too carefully

No, Collins did far better v McCallum than Lacy would have, even at 168.

Hearns was never at his peak at 168 and I don`t think you can compare Lacy with a fighter that outboxed Benitez and was outboxing Leonard until being caught, I don`t even think Lacy could have beat Hill at 175, different class.

How the hell was Pyatt favourite over Collins? Pyatt had never been in the ring with the likes of Johnson and McCallum, Collins did far better against McCallum than Watson did and Watson would have boxed Pyatt`s ears off.
