It was a great flip of the script. we all know how it was meant to go down, we have all seen it many times.
old guy who has had a good career vs the younger guy. the script is that even though the older guy has fought and beaten better fighters, now he has passed his peak and getting worse every outing. If the younger guy can catch him before he starts losing to other young guys and beat him, he can claim to have beaten this great fighter.
but.... if the old dog still has a little bit left of what made him very good, he can turn back the clock one more time and spank that ass, thus ensuring himself a couple more decent paydays and us as fans a )&&@@ hilarious spectacle.

I think he lost a huge amount of killer instinct that night. Not that he was damaged in any way like Magomed, but I don't think he was mentally the same again.

Anyway, what a fight it was. Joy to watch, overshadowed by the tragedy.

 

And yet Zakman doesn't rate him as a puncher.

 

Sobering thought, Povetkin actually has more one punch KOs than Earnie Shavers.

Zakman should stick to his niche of calling everyone glass chinned. He doesn't have any authority as a punch rater.
