Soto has looked pretty average post-130. Not sure if it's complacency or just not having "it" at 135+:huh

It was Antillon that rejected to fight Soto. He knows Soto is too good.

Soto tried fighting Pac for years, but Pac has ducked Soto since Soto pulverized his brother Bobby.

Soto tried fighting Valero many times, Valero chickened-out many times.,,
In August of 2009 ( 3 months before the Nov. 14th Pac-Cotto fight.), Arum proposed to make a a Soto vs Valero fight as an undercard.

At the time, Valero was living in Costa Mesa, California and training in at South Coast Martial Arts Center (in Costa Mesa, CA).
When Valero found at that Arum was trying to make him fight Soto for the Pac-Cotto undercard, Valero packed up his belongings and flew out of the country, to Venezuela.
Then he pretended he could'nt come to the US, cause of some VISA issues, due to a DUI/loaded firearm in car incident from March of 2009, in Texas.
Valero already had this excuse/arrest set up, so that he can purposely be denied entry into the US, and not have to fight Soto.

So, Arum postponed the Soto-valero fight to December 5th, in Cancun, Mexico, knowing that Valero should not have VISA issues in Mexico.

Valero, again, CHICKENED-OUT, and avoided Soto again.
So, Arum canceleld the Dec 5th show, and had Soto fight Jesus Chavez on Dec. 19th, and gave Edwin valero a soft easy opponent named Hector Velazquez, a c-level boxer with about 15 loses, in Venezuela, since Arum knew that Valero was afraid to fight Soto.

then valero fought and beat DeMarco in Monterrey early this year, and Soto was at ringside for the Valero-DeMarco fight.
After the fight, Soto went up to Valero and challenged his to a next fight.
Valero, still scared of Soto, vacated the title and left Soto to fight david Diaz for it.

Valero was always SCARED to fight Humberto Soto, just like Manny Pacquiao is also SCARED to fight Soto.

everyone is scared to fight Soto.
This is why Soto fight c & d level fighters, cause they have nothing to lose.

Soto turned down a shot to fight Peterson June 5th at Yankee Stadium to fight some unknown in Mexico. He then was slated to fight Urbanon Antillon on the Margarito-Garcia undercard, but pulled out of that fight as well. He's now fighting some unheralded Colombian with the hopes of facing off with Marco Antonio Barrera in the near future. Yet, he's the one being avoided?! The thread starter has to be an alt.

It was Peterson that had his team members have Arum cancel his proposed fight with Soto on june 5th. Soto then fought in May, and offered Peterson a August/September fight date. rather than fighting Soto in September, Peterson ran to the WBA to fight Rios.
Antillon fought on May 8, 2010, while Soto fought, a week later, on May 15, 2010 against the winner of the Boxeo Ateca tournament, becasue the winner of that tournament was gonna be given a shot at the World Title, so Soto fullfilled that promise.
Soto is fighting this colmbian, cause MAB backed down from a Sept. 11, 2010 proposed showdown with Soto. Since 2007, MAB has avoided SOto, just like Pacman, JMM, EM did in 2007.

    Soto is avoided.

Anywayz..... i dont think anyone went out of there way to duck Soto. He is a very tough opponent to match up on though. Im very fond of him and he tore up David Diaz expectingly. Shoulda been an earlier KO if Soto turned up the heat, like he used to in his younger dayz...

Soto has the most impressive signature flurry attack, when he catches/pins an opponent on the ropes. I call it the "Meatgrinder", cuz there's no blocking it fully, have to spin/sidestep out.
He dips to the left and throws a flurry of turned-overhand rights and alternating long left uppercut/left body hook over and over....

He did that vs Lorenzo in their first match towards the final minute of the 4th round and just crushed him down to the ground. He chased Lorenzo again, caught him in another one and Cortez put his hands on both, looking to wave off Lorenzo. But then he let them fight (wtf!?!?). Lorenzo caught in the corner dipping & squatting down, and once touched the ground and Soto wacked him at that time and was DQ'd!!! WTF CORTEZ!!!! Instead of DQ'ing, i would have just went ahead and waved off Lorenzo. Luckily, the organization saw fit to give Soto another titleshot and rematch...

    4. Humberto Soto (52-7-2)

In his first defense, Soto routed Mexican countryman Ricardo Dominguez on May 15. Rather than move up to the deep junior welterweight division as he had talked about, Soto will stay at lightweight and hopes to eventually face Marco Antonio Barrera in what would be a major fight in Mexico. Instead of facing tough Urbano Antillon for his interim fight (as was originally planned), he'll face untested Fidel Monterrosa (23-1) of Colombia.

    8. Anthony Peterson (30-0)

Peterson was ducked by Soto, so instead he will face Top Rank stablemate Brandon Rios (24-0-1) on HBO in a title eliminator with the winner due a shot at Acosta's belt.
    Next: Sept. 11 vs. Rios.

    9. Urbano Antillon (28-1)

Since being upset via ninth-round knockout by Acosta in an interim title bout in July 2009, Antillon has won two in a row. He was slated to get a shot at Soto's title in September, but Soto changed his mind and took a different opponent.
