We all know it has nothing to do with hometown or even who the champion is.
The money fighter or the fighter connected to the right promoter more often than not recieve the benefit in most of these corrupt decisions.

Pacquiao was the challenger in each of the first two Marquez fights.

Leonard was the challenger against a long time Middleweight holder in Hagler.
The money fighter,primadonna, or connected fighter to a promoter with more influence gets the decisions and that is just wrong! :deal

So explain how getting the public ridicule of the mass media on giving Antonio Margarito a boxing license not intimidate Texas into changing their policies there but you think some online petition signed by what will only be a few thousand will? They ignored the former, why would they not ignore the latter?

Look, if you want boxing to change, stop watching fights, stop buying tickets, stop buying PPVs. These people only respond to losing money. As long as you continue consuming the product and giving them your money, they will not give a sh*t what you say or think.

If you want to stop corruption, investigate the people you assume are corrupt, gather concrete hard evidence, and expose them. If you think a judge or Jose Sulaiman or Don King or the ref is paid off, go find the evidence and publish it to the world. That's the only way you'll ever get rid of these people. An online petition does nothing toward that fact. Random Boxing Bigshot: "So you want me to give up making millions of dollars because a bunch of blowhards on the internet told me to? Petition isn't the answer when the target is the wrong group.
It is the promoters that run the game and hire the judges and refs.
You have to find the money and you solve the problem and the money all flows through the promoters.

 

State athletic commisions get paid under the table by promoters. Both have plenty of fault in corrupting the sport.
These athletic commisions are supposed to serve to police that honesty and intergrity is mantained and they are quite frankly failing.

Its like trying to blame drug dealers for paying off cops.

The promoter is the drug dealer, the cops the commision.

Cops should not be accepting bribes, and neither should state athletic commisions.

Athletic commisions accepting bribes is worst to me than promoters offering the bribes.

The petition is seeking the right goal, bring down and expose these state athletic commisions that are supposed to serve as the law in boxing.

It starts with the promoters. If fans boycotted fights for 30-60 days both live and on television/online it will be amazing how quickly promoters would take money out of their own pockets and fund more training for judges and referees and organize some kind of official association of fairness for the sport.
Until that is done nothing will change.

I'm not asking boxing to change as it changes all the time. It's the inevitable nature of things to change.
