never saw last night but i dont really get this. Are you insulting him for doing his job now or what?
No, no, no I like and respect Jim, I just find commentary dull and just seems to be stating the obvious:?
Sky should go to a 3-man team like HBO. It means each of the guys can think more before he speaks and there's more camaraderie also.
Starting to feel a little bit guilty....but still sticking to my original thoughts regarding the job he does.
All the J.Watt Haters should listen to that guy from last night on the Premier Sports broadcast. One of the strangest and worst commentator's ever heard...
The only people who hate Watt are the ones who can't be objective and can't stand someone calling it as it is and not giving a toss what country a certain fighter comes from. Sturm was doing all the quality work after the sixth round or so. Macklin's shots had nothing on them.
Remember the Rocky Juarez - Chris John fight where John was out on his feet getting pounded for 90% of the round and Watt scored it to John to get his scorecard closer to HBO's? He might be better if he actually just scored the fights as he saw them, like he's supposed to be doing and not trying to predict what the judges are thinking. Watt gets a lot of stick about the Valuev fight, and he was atrocious, but it's worth remembering that all the dribblers in the studio also had Valuev winning. Get Spencer Oliver on commentary.
That's bs, he called it as he saw it and I disagree with him as I normally do. That is me being objective. It is him bring objective. Plus, don't confuse dislike of his commentary and analysis with a hatred of the man. By all accounts he's a lovely guy and my old man bought a car off him in the 70's. Sturms work improved in the second half of the fight, but macklin was exerting a lot of pressure which had a negative effect throughout the fight on his offense. I think the 115-113 to macklin card was fair. A draw was pushing it, but 116-112 sturm was ridiculous. In all fairness watt went one point to sturm in the end which wasn't too far off. My gripe is and always has been that you I feel like I'm watching a different fight to watt. At one point he said macklin was all hard work and no thought. I thought the opposite. Ability to execute a fight plan and plenty of intelligent thought. Now IMO there are times when a difference of opinion is inevitable. But where macklins performance is concerned IMO it's beyond doubt that je fought the fight to negate sturms jab as much as possible and be active on the inside which was the most intelligent way to fight the fight. In my eyes yes it was all hard work, but with plenty of thought
**** that Watt was brilliant compared to those spastics on Premier sports. Two of the worst commentators I've ever heard. Talking about Argie fighters and one of them says Arguello..... the other guy didn't even correct him. Talking about Ray Austin. "Austin has a good jab and power in both hands just like Lewis and Ali but he lacked something they had" The other mong chips in with "A Chin".... I was hoping for them to have technical difficulties so I could hear some sense from the spanish guys again.
When talking about Ko's ''It's like a ice cream cone on a hot daayy.....it's all worth it in the enddddd''. Awful commentators..
