Obviously the main discussion is whether Khan can take Maidana's shots to the chin, whether his punch resistance to the head has improved, however, I think it's more likely that Maidana's body shots will have a big effect on Khan first. We all know that Khan will be moving a lot and, as a wild puncher, I expect Maidana to miss a lot of the early head shots. What I think he needs to do, is close the gap and work Khan's body, which is a much easier task than head hunting. Khan can't take body shots at all and he isn't much tougher there, than he is to the chin. Maidana is an excellent body puncher, so I think, at the very least, this should be in his game plan to slow Khan down. I do think it's a more possible scenario than you'd think, reading through different threads on the fight. If Maidana is going to stop Khan, I think a body shot is as likely as a head punch.
Yeah it's a good point actually...I've been thinking too much about if/when Maidana lands on Khan's chin. But we've seen before that Maidana can throw some powerful body shots. If Khan were to stay in range too long, and Maidana connects with the type of bodyshot he caught Cayo with...I'm not sure Khan would take it any better. I remember Maidana saying he doesn't really have a plan, he's just going to step into the ring and go for the KO. Maybe if he concentrated on Khan's body for the first few rounds to slow him down...it would be more likely that he could get the stoppage. Edit: I pretty much just rewrote/reworded what you typed, but oh well...:good
WTF is wrong with people khan got KD by journey men, someone like maidana is going to ko him within 3 rounds easy nights work. I am not a khan hater, but khan will get ko'd.
Khan has to box carefully or he will get stopped. Thing is, he can box and move, and he has fast hands and a good jab. If Khan makes it to the bell he'll get the decision.
I think Khan has all the tools to prevent getting hit squarely, Khan can fight from the outside all night and win a decision.
