I made a thread a couple of years ago asking how long it would be before Haye got his haters on here like Calzaghe and Hatton had. Granted Haye has brought some of it on himself but I think as soon as fighter gets to a certain level he'll get the haters on here no matter what he does.
That was inevitable. It's okay to be brash when very few people are hearing you but when you become a superstar in boxing and every quote is under intense scrutiny there is always a group of sensitive individuals that take exception Haye was getting **** LONG before the Klitschko saga.
In the past, British fighters didn't get so much stick from their own. Sure jokes were made about Benn and Brunos chin, but not to the extent that they wanted them to lose to overseas opponents.
I think almost everybody likes ryan rhodes and i also reckon ricky burns will be getting a lot of support after his title fight. quite a lot of people also like david haye, although there are a few people who point him out as a coward, he generally has the support of the UK fans. If Paul Smith impresses in his next fight, and knocks mcdermott out, then i also think he will be a favourite... at least i'd like to think so. hes a straight talking guy and never mouths off :good
I hear Burns in fighting at the Kelvin Hall. I hope he doesn't sing a song afterwards like Watt used to!
Don't take offence mate, I'm sure you'd be a selfish, opinionated ******* with no social conscience or moral compass even without the Internet.:good
:rofl Now that bit I'll accept..... to be honest I've little choice. The rest.... meh. It's tough being a Tory voter round here - say what you think about benefit claimants and illegal immigrants and you might as well dig your own grave.... would be like the scene on Saving Private Ryan - but without the pardon :-(
To be honest i think your underestimating how disliked Eubank and Naz were in their day . With the benefit of hindsight we can look back and see what good fighters they were but at the time i remember watching Eubank against Benn, Watson , Collins , Stretch etc and hoping he would lose and at least 50% pf the people watching were hoping for the same . I never really warmed to Naz either at the time i thought he was a nasty cocky ignorant stupid wee guy . Which he is . But looking back i can appreciate what a great fighter he is
