This is getting pretty ****ed up

Calzaghe beat a shot Jones, a walking punching bag. And people are ranking this victory too high, saying Prime Calzaghe would beat a Prime Roy, I think they must've forgot Roy Jones reflexes.

    Some stats

Before the Calzaghe fight, Roy jones in his last 3 fights, was caught on average per round 16 punches by his opponent.

Between 1998-2002, he averaged getting hit 8 times per round.

Calzaghe was slapping a human punching bag all night yesterday, a Prime Roy would at least use his legs and run (like he did against ruiz).

And if yesterday's Roy was able to land against Calzaghe who is still slick, and boxers like kabery salem, byron mitchell, were able to land flush shots on a stronger Calzaghe, a Prime Roy would have landed on will against calzaghe, especially if calzaghe had his hands low.

Calzaghe is a good fighter, but saying he would do the same thing late 90's, eary 2000's is complete bull****

Who was Roy fighting between 1998-2002? He was not fighting ANYONE close to Calzaghe. All of his opponents back then just stood in front of Roy flat footed and did not try to put pressure on him. Look what happened to Glass Jaw Roy when fighters started putting pressure on him he got brutally KOed twice by guys that are not power punchers. Roy's fights from 1998-2002 were glorified sparring sessions heck Jones was only throwing 36 total punches a round then that is pathetic.

I was comparing 1998-2002, to Roys last 3 fights before calzaghe, indicating that Roy was way beyond shot.

Do you actually think Calzaghe would have put his hands low and put his head on his opponents chest, to a prime roy.

I think you need to watch the previous Roy fights, he didnt just stay on the ropes with his gloves up like he did yesterday, he had a style, running away and hitting with right hand counters

Hey if you make the fight happen I will put some money on Calzaghe (but not too much, because it WILL be a close fight). Now get this time machine working.

    Its laughable to be honest.

You see so many Americans on here saying PRIME ROY JONES WOULD KNOCK JOE OUT IN 3 ROUNDS

But yet look how many bums lasted the distance with Roy ? Calzaghe would arguably be his best opponent (some would say Hopkins and im inclined to agree).

So why/how would Roy KO 3 a Prime Joe Calzaghe when Roy couldnt score KO's over people like Fermin Cherino, Lou Del Valle, David Telesco, Julio Cesar Gonzalez etc etc......?

A prime Roy Jones is a fantastic fighter, and I fully agree that a he would beat Calzaghe had he been in his prime, but someone with Calzaghe's ring intelligence and adaptability doesnt get destroyed by anyone.

What happens in this matchup when Calzaghe adapts ?

The only thing we should be arguing about in this matchup is the people who stopped the fight from happening.
