There was a reason I bought up the Norwood fight. Marquez was not this unstoppable force that induced fear into the eyes of all his contemporaries. He lost to Norwood, and I'm expected to believe Marco Barrera, personally ducked Marquez. It's ridiculous. Was Leonard ever knocked spark out by Tommy Hearns? Barrera became a better fighter after his first professional loss. It served him well. No disgrace in losing. Err..nope, and I've never described Barrera as so much superior to Marquez. I hope you know Marquez is one of my favorite active fighters. The arguement is you said Barrera personally ducked Marquez, and I say no he didn't. It makes no sense for Barrera to duck Marquez and then fight the who's who of the lower weights during the 90s and 2000s. He has actually fought Marquez...you know this? I think Barrera had more variety in his offensive arsenal, as well as having a close but clear edge in handspeed. Likewise, he could take a shot better than JMM. In a very close fight. MAB was at the tail end of his career, whereas Marquez was getting his first great win.
All good excuses however the fact still remains that MAB never fought JMM at 126. Final Forum never put Barrera against Marquez because they knew it was a real tough fight. That is what I consider ducking.
If you mean high risk low reward, then perhaps. Bud did Barrera personally duck anybody during his career? Absolutely not. He should not be held accountable, just as Duran would have re matched Buchanan, but his people made the decision not too - not Roberto. Same thing here.
I always thought JMM is more skilled than MAB and Morales. Freddie Roach himself pointed this out several times.
Let me tell you something amigo: We JMM fans are not *******s, and we don't want Marquez-tards giving us a bad name. JMM and MAB are both great fighters, some of us think one guy wins, some the other. It's close enough to be debatable. If you want to be an asswipe nuthugger, jump on the Pac bandwagon ok? We don't need you.
Another thing to remember in this matchup is that JMM only became an 'exciting' fighter when his reflexes started to slip a little bit. In his physical prime he was a super cautious counterpuncher who was hard to beat and brought NO money to the table. He also didn't make for exciting fights. JMM almost broke into the top level of matchmaking, then he ****ed up against Norwood and fought a very passive fight and lost. He had no leverage to make anyone fight him, and only hardcore fans knew who he was and how good he could be.
do you really need to bring pac's name up? this is all about mab and jmm. i think you're obsessed with pac :-(
