could the old legend hold his honor in a last fight against this very good and young fighter ? i think that nunn would be too much for hagler at this time and "second to" would win by ud. what do you think?
I think you're right. But it's all in hindsight. If you'd asked the question in '87 pre Leonard I would have said you were nuts
i think that a prime nunn would have beat any version of marvin in the year 1987. i think that nunn is underrated.
There's no point in a mythical matchup where one fighter is not in his prime. A prime Nunn would have been hunted down and stopped by a prime Marvin
I also agree with this. Nunn was sick at his best, I remember watching him toy with and destroy Tate who was a solid fighter, he beat a still very good Barkley with relative ease regardless of what the crowd might have thought.. He was big, fast and smart and yes he would beat this version of Hagler!! How do you think it plays out prime for prime?? I see Hagler giving up some rounds but eventually getting to Nunn and stopping him..
obviously prime vs prime marvin was warvin, he would win, probably by late tko or ud. it is because i said prine nunn vs marvin 1987. it is a legend vs a very good fighter. happy new year
Nunn was a good fighter but I dont think he would have been able to beat any version of Hagler.Hagler was just a better fighter,Nunn would have done well for a few rounds but Hagler would slowly start getting to him as it went on and would force a late stoppage.
Nunn isn't half the boxer Leonard is, he gives up his height and drops his hands, much like Paul Williams does today but he's abit flashier. 87 Hagler would break him down and knock him out the same as Toney did
tuney was a hell of fighter in his prime who would fight a war against a prime hagler. hagler was not the same fighter in 1987, and leonard neither. nunn in his prime was a great fighter, he was 6ยด3, taller than any fighter that hagler faced ever, fast, skilled, good jab, and decent hitting power. prime nunn would outbox this version of hagler and would win by ud.
Pretty much agree with this, although I don't think Marvin kayoes Nunn with one shot, but breaks him down. We have to remember that the decision in Hagler-Leonard was controversial, put Nunn in Leonard's place, would he have the same influence on the judges that Leonard's reputation did? I don't think so. I would factor in that it's quite possible that Nunn wouldn't have the same self belief against Marvin that Leonard had, Leonard had studied Marvin for years and could clearly see that Hagler slipped a long way from his peak in terms of sharpness and speed, MMH still had his chin, strength and power, but SRL still felt he could work around those factors, and in the eyes of 2 judges, he was right. Hagler still had the aura too, and Nunn didn't have Leonard's experience or savvy at that time. I think Hagler outpunches, outstrengthes and out-toughes Nunn, especially over 15 rounds. Hagler by stoppage in the championsip rounds, or points if it's scheduled for 12.
Roldan was pretty much done when he gave Nunn plenty of trouble. The Hagler that fought Leonard would catch up with Nunn, I think. By no means a foregone conclusion though. Over 12 rounds, Nunn could possibly do it, but he'd have to give his all.
