He doesn't overshoot it as much as he did, not to the point where his feet catch up with each other, but he still likes to finish through the target rather than on it. You might be right, but one of the main reasons I believe he could get nothing going against Judah, was cause he was only looking for the right hand, he was not bringing the left hook behind it, which is essential, cause for the most part, the lead right is only a set up punch, it gets you from A to B, but its what you do after that, which is why I think Pac would have trouble, cause he commits to it too much, which makes it harder to get anything else going off it imo.

I see the lead right as a sneaky power punch, the set up is what you do before you throw it. It can work both ways though and you're right the follow up is very important.

The reason Floyd couldn't follow it up with the left hook is because he was overshooting, missing and being sloppy with it. He wasn't giving himself the spacing to bring the left hook or anything else. Almost everytime he threw it in those early rounds Zab would slip it and they would end up in a clinch. It was brillient how he adjusted though, Floyd clearly has issues with southpaws but his boxing IQ won him that fight.

I really think Pacquiao doesn't overextend as he once did. His foot placement is really good now. It's actually a big transformation from the Pacquiao who use to throw 4 straight punches then reset-another 4 straight punches and reset....

    Agree.

No I agree with you there, he was falling in a bit too much with it, although I have a feeling thats because he was trying to apply pressure, which he is not so adept at doing. I think Mayweather is so cautious that he does not throw with the same conviction when having to apply pressure, because! he is so defensive orientated.

I think he can do it with a stationary target, just not sure he can put that lead right hand together, and work a combination of that if the guy is looking to make him come forward, move away when he tries it. I dont think Manny is that smart a fighter to make it stick tbh.

Its funny, cause I hear people call Manny out for getting hit too much with the lead right against Clottey, but the thing is, Clottey has an extremely good lead right hand, which was evident in the Judah fight.

Whitaker would school Pac or Mayweather to be honest.

Huge stylistic advantage over Pacquiao, and also quite a large one over Mayweather if you know boxing. Pea had the jab Floyd never did, and Floyd is troubled by. He also had activity in his favour over Mayweather as well as being a greater evader of punches altogether (i.e. he didn´t block but avoid altogether).

Yep, Clottey is actually pretty fundamentally sound and has a brillient right lead, he just has a weird disposition.

The shot to catch Pacquiao with, especially with view to what's coming up in little under a fortnight, is the uppercut. That Margarito uppercut is really scary and it's one of the best shots to KO a southpaw. This fight could be very interesting...i'm picking Pacquiao to stage left and stage right to a decision and have too much speed of foot and hand for the plodding Margarito, but it could be dicey.

Don't know what your views are?

Whitaker would school Pacquiao, but not Mayweather. Floyd is just as much a bad style for Pea as it is vice-versa IMO. Especially at welterweight. Buddy McGirt gave Pea a few things to think about with a bad shoulder, just by playing the counter puncher and refusing to fall into the traps. Mayweather certainly has enough tools to make it a close fight, I agree Whitaker takes it with his better slipperiness, but it's not clear cut. Mayweather causes him more problems then Chavez did that's for sure. Now that was a true large stylistic advantage, if you know boxing...;):good

It always tickles me when TFFP drops those type of comments in now and again.....why he just doesn't go the whole hog and finish with "..like wot I do", I don't know!!

I just don't think Floyd is that good to be honest. Not impressed a huge amount at all, decent, yes, but with the opposition he's faced that's all he is. Not doing anything particularly groundbreaking stylistically against decent-to-good opp, doesn't deserve plaudits or for his style to be seen as particularly formidable IMO.

Sweet Pea would make a mockery of him.

I don't know about you, but I think it must be boring knowing exactly how a fight will go before a punch is thrown...

Match-ups nowadays leave little to the imagination for the most part though.

Yeah I think more so the counter uppercut though, as he is coming in. Margarito, to my mind at least, needs you to sit still to land that uppercut imo.

I got Pac slip&counter, I dont think Margo is a particularly big puncher to the point where he can change a fight with one punch, I think he needs to chip away at you, but to do that, he needs a stationary target to get off on, only Pac wont oblige him the way Cotto did, Manny has enough stamina to use his legs consistently. I think Margo is at his best when he is coming foward, when he has a momentum, which is why Pac might want to keep the fight in centre ring, but to do that, he will have to throw a lot of punches to keep Margo on the defense, but make sure he moves after throwing so he does not catch the receipt, whilst doing this I would advise him to bang the body when/if Margo shells up, only thing I would worry about for Pac in this scenario, is getting caught on the tail end of punches, as Margo is the taller of the two, that said, I think Pac can win another way, cause I dont think Margo, when he comes foward, has the jab to stablize Manny's in and out motion, and that Manny's feet are too quick to pin him down without that jab, and that if Margo tries to walk in and apply pressure, it will be like walking into a propeller, as Manny is a sharp shooter.

Totally agree, Margarito doesn't have the tools to beat Pacquiao and Manny should win this relatively comfortabily and i think he will. Just in trying to look for ways Margarito can win this fight though...i think there's some intangibles he brings to the table, which could exploit Pacquiao's weaknesses. One thing Manny can not do in this fight is stand still. A flaw he has, is that he can't get a rest without getting hit.

Some fighters will clinch and hold to get a rest, others will do it with their ring generalship. What Manny does is he gets hit in that brief moment he's taking a break. Fortunately for him, he has incredible stamina and rarely gets tired for a long period. If Pacquiao gets fatigued in this fight, which could be a possability with the amount of movement, workrate he's gonna have to keep up coupled with Margarito presence and mental fatigue he forces on you, it could get interesting.

The big factor for me is how Pacquiao deals with Margarito's long arms as you mention, his height, strength etc. and keeps him off all night. Weaknesses in a fighter really become more apparent and clear when it's the strength of their opponent. For example Pacquiao has a tendency to get countered and that was Marquez's strength. Well, what happens if and it's a big 'if' i know, Pacquiao needs a breather? That's the chance Margarito will get to go to work to the body and with the uppercut. Because Pacquiao will still stay in range when he's fatigued. He won't go for a walk or get on his bike and doesn't have the physicality of someone like Shane to fold him up.
