Gavilan almost pulled it off....I still always dream that Burley would beat him! I give Napoles a decent shot as well, SRL and Hearns are live dogs...This division is way to stacked. Basilio beat him weighing 153 I am not convinced he wouldn't do the same @ 147. I like SRR and rate him #1 P4P, and think he is truely the best ever....but not invincible.

Hearns is as good, if not better, than most or even all of the guys Robinson faced at welter.

I'm not saying Hearns would win, but it's surely a tough night for Robinson.

I agree he is not invincible. Hearns could beat anyone on a given night including Robinson.

One note. Basillio beat Ray when he was 38 years old by a hair. Gavlian got outboxed pretty clearly in their championship fight. The Kid was a great fighter in his own right.

When a fighter as good as SRR goes up against a fighter as dangerous as Hearns, he's obviously going to be on the top of his game and looking for the KO.

Hearns simply doesn't have the punch resistance for the job. He's simply getting KO'd.

But then again, with the power Hearns carries,he could turn a fight around or stop it at a moment's notice

The greatest fighter of all-time would...QUIT?
Once again, different era fighters simply cannot be compared in any objective way.
A 30 year old fighter (like Ray) who had been through 130+ bouts in 1951, is not the 30 year old nowadays. Over the hill, he had his mid-late 50's middleweight career that thrilled millions!!
All eras being equal, which can't be done, there is simply no fighter that can put forth the Sugar's resume.
There will never be another Bach.
There will never be another Dickens.
There will never be another Sugar Ray Robinson....
