A prime Vasyl Lomachenko lost fair and square to Orlando Salido who already had 12 losses @ the time

How would Loma make the HOF when Julian Jackson a guy who sparked a prime Terry Norris clean is not in?

Jackson will get in eventually. Even though you can debate his resume etc, the excitement he brought and his obscene ko power will get him in.

The problem with the HOF fame is that they have guys in there for reasons other than sheer ability and accomplishments. That immediately muddies the waters.

As far as Loma goes - barring early retirement, he'll punch his ticket over the next couple of years.

Because Loma is arguably the greatest amateur in history with the best amateur record in history at 402-1 (this resume is one of the single greatest achievements in boxing history) + world title record equalled + 2 weight world champ in least amount of pro fights + looked sensational once adjusted to pros (post Russell Jr, although some will argue he was adjusted by Russell Jr fight) + 8 title fights/defences in 9 fights + a P4P top 10 lock.

Lazlo Papp is HOF, Loma would be, too. If he beats Salido in the rematch, he's a lock for HOF.

So you think a fighter on his 2nd pro fight is in his prime?

    GTFO troll.

i was/am a Walters fan actually; saying that Loma "schooled" him is hard to argue with.

i picked Walters to win the Loma fight though

Walters is no bum, he was 27-0 going into that fight, but it's his 8 (E-I-G-H-T) inch reach advantage that i thought would put him over.

i'm no fan of this troll, but honestly this seems a bit harsh--especially the claw hammer (plus i don't think that's what they mean by "perma-ban")

Hate threads and opinions like this. Fans complain about guys fighting tomato cans building manufactured records and then also knock a dude because he took on a massive challenge in his second pro fight and lost.

That's the bottom line and this is why I don't hold amateur pedigree as a serious point. It didn't help against Salido no so what a man is bigger than you. If you're regarded as top p4p then a Salido caliber fighter should be no problem. Bonn needs to make the Mickey fight and stop bs.

I like Loma alot and have alot of respect for him. So this isnt a knock. But i have a hard time that a 25-26 year old fighter isnt taking a 12 round fight unless he feels comfortable that he knows how to handle himself under the circumstances. This isnt a 20 year old kid whos been fighting 4 rounders. This is a guy confident enough in himself to take a fight like that in his 2nd outing. I suspect he felt he was more than capable of handling it.

We all suspected he would be more than capable, I certainly did. I did however also warn that if his pacing strategy is completely off, he will have a tough time. Unlike a Naoya Inoue, Loma's style requires a structured pacing strategy. He unfortunately was being far too conservative, barely throwing anything and thinking he could win by just outlanding like an amateur, even if the punches he cleanly landed were weaker, and also without caring about scoring criteria like effective aggression.

Loma clearly wasn't ready after 400 amateur bouts, now if he had fought in 500...

Lomachenko won that fight, he had Salido out on his feet in the last round, Salido landed low blows all night, hit after the bell, hit behind the head, he fought like SOB, the judges were also biased..................anyone who saw this fight and had Salido was blind....................Lawrence Cole helped Salido all he could, allowing low blows and all the fouls, Lomachenko is the best fighter in the world today......................

I think Loma was ready to "box" for the first Salido contest. They don't really teach you how to "fight" in the amateurs; 2 contest FMJ would have been manhandled by Salido in that bout. Loma now knows when to mix it up and keep out of range, its evident in all his fights post Salido. Salido himself will find that out shortly, after Loma toys with him and makes him quit.
