I was the greatest college boxer of alltime who kod every opponent until
I was BANNED for being too good. I turned pro but in my 6th bout I tore a tendon in my right hand...But though a one armed fighter I became a champ in my great talented division...With one hand I beat HOfame fighters, but retired after serving my country...Forgotten today, but if I were healthy I would be an alltime great in my division. Who am I ?

Billy Soose. Boxed at Penn State under Leo Houck. Hurt his hand on Al Quaill's head and it never fully recovered.

DD. Billy Soose it is. Billy Soose flattened 16 college boxers in a row, and was promptly banned for being too good. In his 6th pro bout Soose tore his tendon in his right hand, but still gave the immortal Charley Burley a close fight in his pro 1st year. He beat such greats as Ken Overlin, Tony Zale Tami Mauriello a young MW knockout artist and defeated Ken Overlin for the MW title with just his left-hand. WW 2 came and Soose lost 4 years and retired soon after...A great MW from a great 160 pound era...:good

Robert Cohn was once middleweight boxing champion of Princeton. Don't think that I'm very impressed by that as a boxing title, but it meant a lot to Cohn...

I never knew this. Thanks Burt. Hey wait a minute...I thought the old timers couldn't fight and were crude unskilled brawlers compared to todays boxers. what gives?

Wasn't Robert Cohen just a character in a Hemingway novel, TFM?

He may have been a fictional character, but he was still the Princeton boxing champion of his year, at least until he got his nose flattened and he gave the sport up.
