    Good insight by Chris Byrd.
Was suprised he gave Canelo credit and was impressed by his boxing.

Neither Canelo or Trout looked paticularly good to me and I'm being honest, Trout whole game plan revolved around him controlling the fight with his jab, which would have been a good game plan only he forgot to incorporate power shots into the plan, even when he had Canelo in retreat & clearly winded from either a body shot or just poor stamina, Austin still fail to rock or hurt Canelo...

Austin missed a **** load of punches and threw some really weak looking power shots in the fight...he was in turn visibly wobbled by pretty much every clean punch Canelo landed, what I saw was a decent but average fighter in Trout...

Canelo on the other hand had a dismal work rate, showed an inability to sustain any kind of attack, showed poor stamina and seem to not be able to cut of the ring and finish a hurt fighter whom he had down, this is even more disturbing because Trout showed no signs that he could hurt Alvarez...Canelo showed that he couldn't switch gears and finish or at least punish a fighter that gives him movement...

These two will NEVER be elite and I honestly don't see Trout beat any top Jr middle weight and Canelo will also have trouble beating certain 154lb'rs

You have to remember they are only 22 and 27. If Canelo can learn to transition out of that defense into offense and land clean counters then he'll really have something. If Trout works a little on how to adapt to an opponent doing something he didn't expect and sharpens up those power shots then there is no reason he can't win multiple belts. IMO.

You know what's wrong with your post? It has too many if's in it, Canelo has over 40 fights, be a pro since 15 and a champion for a couple years now, Trout has also been a champion for about three years not to mention 27 is not that young in this game...I do agree they both have a lot to work on, however Trout will not all of a sudden become a harder puncher and Canelo's stamina issues have always been apparent, if he hasn't fixed them in 7 years I don't see him doing so...

You're being overcritical. You have to remember that along with movement, Trout is a southpaw and alot of conventional stance fighters have problems solving those.

You cant take one fight against a good southpaw like Trout and say Canelo is'nt going to mount to anything.
To the contrary, I though Canelo mantained his calm and stood to the gameplan despite not seeming so comfortable getting off in combination against the southpaw.

Honestly Canelo was outboxed, fight should have been closer but Canelo winning is reasonable to me, however if he didn't get that knockdown and he still won I would have a problem with it, the difference in this fight was power, if Trout had any this fight would have more than likely ended differently...

Canelo has feasted on smaller fighters with no mobility who were also C level, then a shot old Mosley and he looked great beating them, but he gets in with a guy his size, young and mobile and he looks average...I don't think it's a coincidence...

Oddly enough I see Canelo going in a similar direction as Cotto, he won't beat the elite...

Sorry your post makes no since, these are the elite of the weight class at the moment. They might look bad against each other and tear holes in the rest of the division. They may not be that good, but for now they are the elite of the division

When you're only looking from your fav fighter point of view everything looks clear. When you score neutral it's much closer, you can argue for either fighter but only thing clear was it's close.

Canelo won this fight Floyd style. He was the ****, I mean brown and slick. Do you posters not realize how hard it is to make a guy like trout look foolish? It was a great chess match! Both guys earned my respect. But canelo clearly won. 1 judge was smoking that **** but Saul clearly showed he was the king at 154 for the time being.
