Oooooooh! Now that was a genuine chicken-dance by Rivera midway into the 5th, of the Zab Judah variety, motherboard scrambled from a Marrero left hook! Up but wobbly, plenty of time on the clock..

 

Marrero is gunning hard for a KO in his return to action following his first career loss, one year and five days ago, courtesy of Alberto Mercado.

 

Rivera is actually coming off two consecutive stoppage losses in the last few months, his only two.

An hour into this, and two low-level undercard fights have already blown away Fish Eyes' whole card from earlier today.

 

Victor Daniel Santillán Pérez vs. Jason Vera, 6 rounds @ super bantamweight

 

Much narrower tale of tape disparity in this one. Santillán has an inch on Vera in both height & reach.

 

Santillán in rojo y azul. (plus he's darker-complected, and southpaw)

 

This one has a tightly coiled tension about it; nobody has landed a solid flush power shot two minutes in but you get the feeling that if either of them does, it'll be a seismic moment..

 

Santillán with some nice two-fisted high-and-low shredding in the second, kept Vera on the ropes for thirty seconds and landed plenty of hard right hooks downstairs and straight lefts up top, earning a nod of acknowledgment from the Floridian as he flurried & scurried aside.

 

20-18 Santillán but they've been competitive rounds. (second clearer but still not domination)
