    Round 7

Núñez is targeting Arrieta's left ear, reaching with the right hand for it and torquing his fist like a screwdriver. They are getting the crowd fired up as Núñez keeps hurtling in and initiating phone-booth rumbles, with both men landing some big shots, mostly on the body. Núñez faking Arrieta out with a constantly threatened 1-2 up top, but is holding back on the combination itself, at the most throwing an odd jab or lead right. Arrieta for his part is too cowed (whether by the cut or Núñez's pressure) to do much headhunting of his own.

    10-9 Núñez, close

    67-66 Núñez

    Round 8

Núñez is now uncorking the 1-2 from afar, knocking Arrieta back on his heels and then quickly swooping in, vulture-like, to nip the flesh off his bones with pendulum shots at point blank. Arrieta doing more holding and running than punching now. Combinations landing for Núñez up to about golpe 4 or 5 in unbroken sequence, even without his feet necessarily being set as he pursues Arrieta at a canter.

    10-9 Núñez

    77-75 Núñez

Kid wasn't ready for this. One could argue it might be a different fight without the adversity of that ear injury sustained halfway in, but Núñez had already seized momentum a couple of rounds before that..

    Round 9

Arrieta now stopping, propelling himself into Núñez and either pinning his arms up and out of harm's way as best he can or whipping him with as many body shots as he can before they collapse together in a rough clinch. Núñez is the only one scoring after the breaks, chasing Arrieta down with the 1-2 and sometimes tossing a long hook on the chin for good measure while Arrieta backpedals. Arrieta does manage to walk Núñez onto a big ambush left hook late. Both men fatigued enough to be showing big reactions to each other's punches.

    10-9 Núñez, close

    87-84 Núñez

    Round 10

Núñez throws his right hand across the ring as though starting a game of pinball. Arrieta scuffs his feet back a few paces to accommodate the onrushing juggernaut and then clips him across the jaw with a counter hook, even while getting his head snapped back by the impact of Núñez's right against his brow. Lots of chopping combos by Núñez stepping in, with Arrieta diving low and taking them across the back of the head as he holds. Lead uppercuts by Núñez, stuffed with pushes downward by Arrieta with both arms. Núñez harries Arrieta with a light jab, and in response Arrieta begins waving a light hook at him while trotting away. Núñez is connecting every few tries with the surging uppercut into the chest. Arrieta rallies, throwing his own hard stuff downstairs.

    10-9 Núñez

    97-93 Núñez

Nuñez should have it by a couple rounds based on what I saw from the last few rounds and the scores from you two

Facebook comments are reaching a BOIL.

Even fellow boricuas are not the least bit happy over Arrieta getting that decision.

I think a draw is fine but I can't see nudging it any further Arrieta's way.

In a pinch you can get to 6 for The Chosen One, if you scored 1-3, 5, and then 8 and 9 for Arrieta, since he either won or was competitive, imo in those frames.

    Still...it's a bit of a stretch.

Nunez won his rounds far more clearly, and had an argument in at least a couple of the rounds that I thought Arrieta shaded due to cleaner punching. Draw or close Nunez decision seems like the more justifiable result.
