Been a back and forth battle of hungry unbeaten prospects raging in the pocket for a few rounds now; I've been watching on my phone (before getting situated on my laptop to fire up the RBR thread) but not closely enough to score. Nobody dominating, both shipping loads of punishment, neither wanting to give up their zero without fighting tooth & nail.

Inclined to say Velázquez was in control in the fourth, but is now (winding down R5) getting his neck cranked into an involuntary 90° spin by Correa's left hooks every few seconds without getting in many of his own licks in between.

Either both of their punchers' records belie really weak hitting, or (IMO the far likelier conclusion to be drawn here) - they both have insanely strong chins.

Phenomenal action; this might in fact be a FOTY candidate. I'm definitely revisiting this one for a closer watch later.

Velázquez rallied in the sixth and fought on even terms with Correa, damn near a 10-10 (which seemed like it could easily turn into a 10-8 for either man at pretty much any moment, given the sheer amount of close-range fully-leveraged and properly turned-over bombs they were both eating)

Awaiting the judge's verdict...somebody's 0 has got to go.

    Correa entered 6-0 (5) and Velázquez 12-0 (12).

Both shaking an index finger high overhead, both cautiously optimistic...

...although, upon actually having a look at Velázquez's record now with the dust settled, this is a striking detail:

He may have been 12-0 (12 kayos, with seven of them KO1s...) but his opponent's records were as follows:

    0-8
    debut
    0-12
    debut
    0-4
    debut
    0-13
    0-4
    1-18
    0-14
    0-22
    0-26

    ...combined total of 1-121. :scared1

    Talk about hojaldres de crema!

Same division and same dynamic as the previous bout: two young unbeaten punchers looking to hang onto their zeroes.

Difference here is that both are boricuas.

Cora has a five inch advantage in height and four in reach.

(he stands a whopping 6'2", which effectively gives him an edge over any 154lber but Sebastian Fundora..)

1st to Cora, messy. Sánchez isn't getting hit much but is eating a couple of the long southpaw jabs unfurled from afar, then getting discombobulated as he is swallowed up in a tuna net as he wedges forward, gunning for the body only to have Cora's reedy arms draped over his back and pushing him down so that he can't see, much less connect.

Sánchez now turns southpaw himself in the second...and it only serves to make things uglier; not sure he is faring any the better for it. He is aggressively baiting Cora into sloppy right hooking exchanges, but neither is getting a clean piece, mostly blocked on the knuckle pads of each other's raised left gloves.
