R3 and Sánchez has returned to his native orthodox stance, as well as to body-hunting. A bit more success with that now as the fight settles into a rhythm. Cora not really showing many wrinkles to his game beyond jabbing & grabbing, dependent on proximity.

2. Fernando Semidey was kayoed in four by Cora in February of last year, and kayoed in four by Sánchez a few months later.

As even as matchmaking gets, on paper.

Nice pendulous lefts worked in like bonesaws to Sánchez's chest as if to to spatchcock him while steadying him with a firm grip of the right glove on his near shoulder. As in the first, Sánchez having a difficult time generating any offensive flow as he is pushed into a genuflection or gathered into a headlock before he can get a pop in.

 

Cora boxing smart, using his length and throwing a damper on the pace; third pair on the spin either has taken in this see-saw tactical contest.

Sánchez halfway toward keeping that pattern going to force a draw! Cora was hurt and in retreat for a sizable chunk of the seventh!

Sánchez going for the KO! Cora swiveling above the waist and slapping with all his might with right hooks to fend him off. Sánchez keeps wrenching himself loose from the clinches and leaping at Cora with power combos to body and head. Cora stands his ground with a noodle-armed southpaw 1-2 but Sánchez barges through and bullies him until getting his arms clasped from beneath and being lifted in a forcible awkward hug.

I don't think he did enough to get the nod, but I definitely became a big Sánchez fan tonight. He showed a ton of heart to dig his way back into this in that last couple of frames and put himself at least within shouting distance.

I have a feeling if anything they'll give it to Cora. He seems to be the house fighter.

I read a tweet referring to Cora vs. Sánchez as the co-main event...

That would be kind of weird, considering that Olympic gold medalist Félix Manuel Díaz Guzman and contender Yenifel Esteban Vicente are both in action on this card in 10-rounders. Both of those Dominicans are much higher-profile than anybody on the card save Bimbito.
