before i get to it, i'll start with an analogy.
    anyone here ever been fired?
i have and i remember how that felt. i'm
    sure you guys do also.

have you ever been at work and just had a
gut feeling that you were about to be
    shitcanned?

the feeling of impending doom would really
**** with your head i'm sure.

with all that in mind, do you think those feelings
of impending doom were a major contribution to
    margo's performance versus shane?

now dont get me wrong, i'd never take away any
credit from mosely because he's been a fav of mine
    since his lightweight days.

just wondering what you guys think.

i forgot to include my disclaimer:
if he did purposefully try to cheat, **** him and
he deserved the beatdown he got.

I peronally think Margo was either shot or very distracted/worried about what would happen after the fight. Not to take away from the sugar man. I can understand Tony having diminished power because he didn't have the loaded gloves, but why did his and stamina decrease so much in one fight?

i dont know how true this is...but some guy over at maxboxing that knows the whole margo camp said that the scale in the gym was 3lb over all camp.....when it came down to shedding the pounds, they said surprisingly he had struggled, and that's why he weighed in at 145....

again, i dont know how credible that is, but that's what has been said.....

either way, shane beats him i think...

you have to admit you were as shocked
like hell though. after seeing how bad
shane looked in against mayorga of all
people and how unstoppable tony was
against cotto. i know i was.
he seemed to have a look of resignation
on his face just a few rounds in.
i think he might have been scared
    shitless considering the outcome
    (remember what happened to resto).
    he was probably preoccupied with
thoughts of his career down the tube
and a possible jail term to concentrate
    on the fight at all.
i guess that performance was just so
out of character for him but its also a
possibilty that shane just had a great
night and tony had a **** one.

I just have wondered why Shane looked slow & shot the last 5 yrs & then got young for the fight with Margarito. The same way Hopkins did for Pavlik:huh

Mosley thought he could go in and put a beating on Mayorga. He completely underestimated him. Mayorga was pretty much fighting to resuscitate his whole career. He wasn't gonna let Mosley just come in and wipe the floor with his ass like that. If you see how Hoya did it, it was all with very well timed shots, from the first knock down to the tko. Hoya fought the right fight against Mayorga while Mosley went in there and tryed to outslug a hard hitting fighter with a difficult style. Mosley was artless in there that night.

Against Margarito he employed a succesful body attack. That at the straight right cinched the deal. I think professional fighters are focused enough to not let things that happen in the dressing room get under their skin that much. But who knows? I don't think anyone expected the investigation to get so far and to have such wide reaching penalties.

Are you talking about the same slow and shot Shane that put undefeated Cotto on the backfoot and hurt him? That "shot" Shane?

i mean, you can be right.....mostly everything in there is mental, and when your mind is ****ed, most of the time so is your fight...
it's kind of weird cause mosley was coming off a bad showing, while margo was coming off a great one, and some of it just didnt make sense....but like i said, either way mosley had a great gameplan with all the clinching.....do i agree with clinching, no but he did what he had to do to win......

The patheticness of trying to take away Shane's victory

Regardless of whether Margarito was in a bad frame of mind or not after the wraps scandal, that's his own fought for trying to get away with it in the fist place, and Shane beats him 10 times out of 10 anyway.

It's about the styles and quality of the fighters. Shane had the speed, power, aggressivenes and chin to push Margarito back and put him out of his comfort zone, and he's several pegs above Margarito as an all-round fighter.

    Bull****.

All he did since July was run and duck and hide from PW.

How much more exercise does a guy need?

Don't get me wrong! I have always liked Shane! But I thought even in the Cotto fight he did not look at all like the Shane of old! Then he looks 10 yrs younger against Margarito!:huh
