A question about the Khan-Mccloskey stoppage...

I was watching with a lot of lag so missed 30 seconds before but I would question why the dr got in the ring. But tbh its the end the whole affair deserved.

 

Ok ,

I was there at the MEN and was close to the action , this is how i seen it , firstly its worth mentioning that McCloskey was beginning to struggle badly with Khan's workrate and handspeed .

When he emerged from the collision he instantly called the referee over to him and was wearing a look on his face like he was in pain , as the referee should he called in the ringside doctor , the doctor came in , they exchanged words and he halted the action .

So who's to blame , im not sure , is it just an unfortunate incident or was the cut threatening McCloskey's safety ?? , im unsure , im not sure what the doctor and McCloskey said to one another but it can be presumed that if the doctor thinks the cut is dangerous then McCloskey would not get a choice in the fight being stopped .

 

That cut was not nearly bad enough to stop the fight, IMO. When I saw McCloskey shake his head when the doctor was talking to him, I thought he was quitting. He didn't put up any resistance immediately when the ref called off the fight. I could very well be wrong w/ my assumptions though. I can't wait to hear the official report on this matter.

 

I don't know. At first there appeared to be a nasty trickle of blood, but it seemed to have stopped almost straight away. It certainly wasn't bad enough to stop the fight. Did they simply over react? You'd think in a worlld title fight the doctor and the ref would be experienced enough to make a decent call.

I don't go for the conspiracy angle, however sometimes you are forced to question the officials involved in some top level fights. Last week Morales was allowed to fight all night with only one eye. It does make you wonder.

 

They should have at least let the corner try to stop it bleeding

As for the TS question, I guess the doctor is responsible.

 

I watched the whole fight in HBO and honestly the cut isn't that bad but.... 1) It would only make matters worst for McCloskey since it'll bother him the rest of the fight 2) Khan was beginning to find his rhythm and with that cut i think Paul would get hurt bad later on 3) He didn't put any kind of resistance when the doctor was talking to him but talked trash at the post fight interview that he "knew Khan was weakening" and that he'll knock him owttt in the later rounds :rofl ....... either way, McCloskey can't win that fight..

 

At the end of the round. Those 15 seconds probably wouldnt have aggravated it too much

 

the fight was rightfully stopped.. but still, only the ref can stop the fight. ringside physician and corners may raise the motion but it's still the ref's call

Funny thing is that he argued like hell way after the fight was stopped. With the kind of ( small cut he had,) I'm pretty sure the Doc and the ref would've have allowed to let the fight continue if he would have said, I'm okay, let's go."

 

thats why ppl think he quit and is now trying to save face

 

Yeah that cut was not that bad, I don't like to start that conspiracy bull**** but there was clearly something up with that doctor. Let's compare Paul McCloskey cut to other fighters cut's.
