Yeah, I don't understand why it's always total war between nations, with national pride at stake, when two fighters from different countries fight, with Dunky.:huh I, for one, don't think they should have national anthems and flags in the ring. It's one fighter against another, not one country against another. Boxing is not rubgy, for crying out loud!:nono :bart

I'm English, Scots and Irish but culturaly English.
I will almost always support the Brit fighter against a foreigner but I'd love to see Kessler spark out Froch as he's a complete **** smoker.
As regards to a Brit vs Brit I'll support mostly on the basis of whats good for British boxing or the personality of the fighters.
eg. I want Haye to beat Enzo because I prefer his attitude and think he'll make more of an effort to achieve greatness. Not because he's an Englishman against a Welsh twat. (Oooops!):D

I always want a British boxer to beat a non Brit.

When it comes to rivalries within the home countries I support whichever fighter I prefer, irregardless of whether they are Scottish,Welsh etc

This is probably because I consider myself British as opposed to English

    I am English.

I always root for Brits to beat non-Brits; the nationality of the Brit makes no difference. Junior Witter sometimes make this tough.

In bouts between Brits, I root for the fighter I prefer; again, nationality makes no difference. Will be supporting Haye vs Enzo, but not because it's England vs Wales.

    I am 9 years old.

I usually support Brits in any bout, unless it's against a foreign fighter who I prefer to the Brit. For instance, I wanted Barrera to beat Naz, but wanted Hatton to beat Mayweather, Calzaghe vs Lacy etc.

I liked it at the Hatton press conference when Calzaghe came out and all the English/British/Hatton fans started chanting 'THERE's ONLy ONe CALZAGHe!!'

I will support Welsh boxers over any other nationality in general terms.

Enzo vs Haye is a good example. I like and appreciate both guys equally, if they were both English, I would slightly edge toward Haye but as Enzo is Welsh, I think I prefer him to win. Having said that, Enzo has pissed me off lately so has to go out against Haye and really nail him if he's to get some respect back.

As for the other nations recently, I have to say that I wanted Hatton to lose against Mayweather because it would have meant him becomming even more popular than he already was and shrouding the achievements of Calzaghe. I want Haye to win, Witter to win and a few of the other English boxers on the world stage but I get the feeling that i want to see Khan lose.

As for Arthur or the Scottish lot, I don't really care that much, they feel very distant.

Well, thanks for the kind words about my posts Tony my good man, its appreciated:good
As for your minor criticisms of me, thats fair enough. I know I can be a bit irrational & fly off the handle all too easily, & am obsessive about all things scottish to the extent I have probably argued with every regular on here at one time or another, even the nice quiet guys!
However, Im working on it, & although Im always gonna be pro scottish, Im going to try & calm down a little & post more positively & give people the benefit of the doubt more often instead of shooting my mouth off without thinking about it! It wont be easy to bite my tongue, but Im gonna try:D Thing is though, I just hope some other poster can step up to the plate & get involved in petty sqaubbles, to keep things interesting! Nothing I hate more than reading a forum with no needle & petty rivalries! Cos everyone has to admit, they like to read a good rammy from time to time;)

You must be reading another Dunkys posts then, cos I certainly dont class every fight I watch as as 'war between nations' Im pro scottish & want my countrymen to win at all times, but apart from that Im pretty neutral. For instance, I was a big fan of Sinan Samil Sam, ****in loved that guy in fact. I have always liked Mayweather, Hopkins, RJJ, Manny Pacquiao & Ricardo Mayorga to name but a few. I also like Junior Witter, Amir Khan, Ian Napa & Tony Oakey from down south, & like Enzo Macarinelli.

However, my biggest passion is scottish boxing, & thats why I spend most of my time talking about that. If people delved deeper, they would find a poster who actually has a decent knowledge of world boxing, but they dont. So they just know me as Dunky the mad scot, but theres more to me than meets the eye.
Every forum needs a bad guy, & I fit the bill nicely & enjoy it! However, Im going to retire as the main agitator now, & let people see Dunky the happy positive scotsman from now on!!!

I don't care what country someone is from. My favorite fighters are Kelly Pavlik and Wladimir Klitschko. In the past I tended to root for mostly Irish-american fighters like Tommy Morrison and Gerry Cooney. They were unfairly labeled as 'white hopes' which is what some misguided people are now calling Pavlik. Pavlik has Slovakian-Italian bloodlines but I've never heard him mention this at all. Roberto Duran is my all-time favorite fighter. I am rooting for Calzaghe to beat Hopkins. I don't like Hopkins' abrasive, haughty demeanor. He also happens to be an unrepentant racist as you all probably already saw that clip of him telling JC he would never lose to a white person. I also preferred Hatton's more low key demeanor leading up to the fight with Maywhether until I heard many of his fans boong our anthem. Then I was glad FM won. It was just incredibly rude and crass and quite frankly uncalled for. I was rooting for Kessler against Calzaghe but was amazed at JC's performance. Kessler is the type of fighter and person I like. Low key personality and very business like with no trash talking whatsoever. I hate these elaborate ring entrances nowadays and the corny storylines that every big fight has to have. I cannot stand Michael Buffer and that "let's get ready to rumble" shlock nonsense. Johnny Addie was the best ring announcer ever.

Listen, I promised not to argue on this thread, & I wont. But lets just say I disagree wholeheartedly with your reasoning that anyone who is proud to be english & doesnt class themselves as british is therefore 'drunken Hatton fans' Thats crazy, to say a man is a 'drunken Hatton fan' if he classes himself as english & not british.

As for your question about the heavyweights, its a hard one for me to answer as I hate the heavyweight division. I have always said here I have no interest in heavyweights recently, the last Heavyweight I was fan of was Samil Sam. He was a german based Turk, if that helps you out! If he fought an american, I would have cheered him on. However, guys like Valuev, & the guy who beat Skelton recently are so ****in boring, that they put me off heavyweights. I think the heavyweight division has been boring since Lennox fought Vitaly & then retired, the fact that that rematch never happened hs left a huge hole in the division that hasnt been filled IMO.

I felt the need to edit this, as it was a nasty post, & I apologize for it. However, its not bloody nice when posters attack me personally, & thats why I ranted here. But, im trying to turn over a new leaf here & have to learn to rise above **** like that.
    But it aint easy!

I'll always support a fellow Scot.

I'm a 3rd gen Pole and support them before anyone else from these shores.

What I can't stand though is some folk from these shores banging on about being British and how I should be supporting Hatton, Calzaghe and Khan yet these same ****s were supporting Numbembe in the Anderson fight.

    **** that ****. :nono
