I know, but its outweighed by the fawning. I dont mean everyone does, but you read the critical posts against the 'legend' 'the man' etc ones. Its not even close.People are star struck. I dont give a ****, and its not his fault, just saying.
Im not saying you cant, but i would think you would want to support the fighters first and formost, because HE is the one that entertains you the most, not because he is from the same country. Im not saying, its wrong, im saying sometimes it does not make sense to back a fighter who has lesser skills, because he is a Brit. Only explanation is an inferiority complex.
To be fair us Yankees have Bert Sugar, whose essentially Steve Bunce with a straw hat. Some relics are hard to dismisss.
Do you honestly think Bunce gives you these nuggets of info, because he is controversial Steve Bunce a "freind"? i wouldn't be surprised, if Setanta planned to have the Cotto/Jennings fight all along, but they held it back and then acted like they were doing everyone a favour when they announced it.
Great post. Every opportunity he has he will talk down an American fighter, an American official, an American journalists, whilst also hyping up journalists and officials from this country. It's cringe worthy.
Bunce is not very sincere and like to be your friend to your face but will talk bad about you when your not around. I think if Cotto was in the studio the next day he would brown noising him. I remember the Macaroni-Haye fight he was so biased and firrmly in the F Warren/ Enzo camp that night and very anti Haye. Now he is all over HAYE.
Yeah this is exactly the type of thing im talking about. I like him dont get me wrong, but there are times, when like you say its cringe worthy to listen to him.
That fantasy match-up show was the last straw as far as I'm concerned. I don't watch the show every week, but that show is not targeted at the hardcore boxing community. It's targeted at some drunken football fans who walse in from the pub and throw on Setanta Sports. The choices blew! I like Steve Bunce, but he doesn't quite understand how sophisticated his audiences are.
All I ask from Buncey is just a little bit of honest. Hamed vs Hatton would have been a one-sided brutal beaten at the hands of Ricky Hatton, and nobody who isn't British would ever want to see that fight happen. He even had Carl Froch as one of the winners. atsch
