There may yet be another twist in the Wlad tale, though. I think we could see him banged out.

But back to the initial thread, even if these guys turn professional, it will be 4 years until they are ready for a world title fight. If Wlad defeats Povetkin, I think he can stay champ for a few more years, and after that I don’t see anyone on the way up better than him. Maybe Cammarelle has that chance, but at this point he’s a long shot to do as well.

I have to agree to some extent. There doesn't seem to be much on the immediate horizon for the heavyweight division. If Wlad manages to beat Povetkin, I don't think there's much left out there that can contend with him. Ruslan Chagaev, though holding the WBA title, seems to be removed from the picture with his inactivity, and I don't think he can beat Wlad anyway. Valuev is not someone I'd pick to beat him either. Some of the younger prospects like Chris Areola and Kevin Johnson, don't impress me much. Sam Peter looked horrible against Jameel McCline, and his conditioning appears to be getting worse with every fight. James Toney fighting Wlad is an absolute joke.
