I am one of said people and I've been pondering this- Say Martinez never gets going in the fight and fights the entire fight like he did the fight against Macklin and Jr fights well earning a close-but clear UD, what happens then in your pound for pound ratings. Do you: a) Rate Chavez Jr in the top 10 pound for pound and drop Martinez b) Rate Chavez Jr in the top 10 pound for pound ahead of Martinez (who stays in your rankings) c) Just drop Martinez out of the pound for pound and replace him with whoever you have at 11. d) Leave Martinez in and put it down to an off night and Jr got lucky :think
I would personally drop Martinez and not include Junior. My current top 10 is: 1. Mayweather 2. Pacquiao 3. Martinez 4. Ward 5. Donaire 6. Marquez 7. Gamboa 8. Bradley 9. W. Klitschko 10. Mares If Chavez does pull it off, I would put it down to Martinez being overrated to begin with and age catching up with him along with Chavez size advantage factoring in rather than him being a special fighter. I would drop Martinez out and put Carl Froch in at 10.
if chavez wins neither should be in there....another couple good wins from Chavez would earn him the honors though.
I think the winner should fight the winner of the Strum-Geale fight, then fight the winner of a Cotto-Alvarez fight if it can be made. If Jr wins then beats Strum/Geale winner followed by the winner of Cotto/Alvarez he walks into the top 10
