Put it this way, could you see Haye lasting 12 rounds against the likes of Lewis, Foreman, Tyson, Frazier?

Haye left Wlad's face marked up (which Wlad also pointed out) not due to running.

    That is for DAMN sure.

    Give credit where its due.

Haye was Wlad's hardest fight since the first Peter fight, and Haye still represents the ONLY threat to either K brothers.

    FACT.

People discredit Haye's actual performance due to his pre fight mouthing. Had Haye not ran his mouth so much before the fight (standard boxing hype that many fighters do to promote themselves) he would have been touted as what he really is...........the third best heavy in the world.

And the fact is, put his mouthing aside, and Haye IS the third best heavyweight in the world on his ring performances, period, fact, end of story.

What does this comment prove? You chose 4 of the most effective offensive fighters in boxing history. Would a fighter with the style of Mayweather be effective at stopping a guy who chooses to fight negatively for 12 rounds? Possibly not. I expect the Haye that fought Wlad could have survived 12 against Larry Holmes and Jack Johnson too.

Actually I just remembered Wlad only had one round to knock Haye out in- the 12th. He said he was going to carry Haye until the final round (which was a success) then KO him. It turns out Haye was good enough to survive for those three minutes, but if Wlad had had more than one round to KO Haye he probably would have done it

Unlikely given the 12th was when Haye landed his best punch of the fight and Wlad held on for a few seconds.

Oh ok...so Tony Thompson, Mormeck, Chisora, Samuel Peter are contenders? Nah just easy fights which is all the Klitschkos want.

6 pages - plenty of sensible, accurate posts. But I'm yet to see the specific Klit fans who claim the SOLE reason Haye wasn't knocked out was due to his running answer my question about cutting the ring off.

Just seems like ANOTHER Excuse from the fanboys to me. After promising to KO HAYE, Wlad was neither aggressive or accurate enough to knock Haye out, so they say he ran . . .

This thread is the final nail in the coffin of that excuse.

If you believe what a boxer says before fighting on PPV where their purse is affected directly by how many people buy the fight, then you really only have yourself to blame.

Most fans would analyse how the fight will play out between the two fighters based on their styles, strengths and weaknesses and ignore all the talk as it means nothing.

Haye promised his fans he'd KO Wlad. He couldn't.

Wlad promised his fans he'd KO Haye. He couldn't.

Instead we got the fight most people who understand boxing predicted. Wlad fought cautiously, controlling the the fight with his height, reach and jab without to many right hands or hooks, while Haye proved defensively competent and hard to hit, but struggled to get close to his opponent.

Then afterwards, all the idiots who bought into the hype and trash talk (such as yourself, apparently) have had a good old cry about it.

Lesson for next time: don't be so gullible.

Because Haye is a world class athlete and chose to elude rather than engage, Wlad was clearly much stronger. He was able to throw Haye around like a rag doll. Had Haye chosen to box, he would have been knocked out. He used his world class athleticism to avoid the KO.

It was like this. David haye with hes far better head movement dodged nearly all of wlads shots and he was baiting Wlad in to him. Wlad was smart enough to not reply. It was acually a time when David haye had is hands down to hes knees and all Wladimir did was jab not engaging.

David haye however had a smart gameplan but he didn't follow up as good as you would have expected. When he acually landed shots he was tied up and the reason the referee let it go on was beacuse of the lack of shots david threw.

The main thing I thought was missing was a Jab from david. The few times he acually used it he landed it on Wladimir and he was disrupted but he gave it up.

Wladimir looked fast, strong and on a mission but he failed to knock him out.

It's to bad David won't go over to the states and sign with Golden boy or something beacuse I really belive he can STILL become a superstar in boxing.

I never expected it to become a war but I expected however that David would engage more and abandon hes original gameplan when it stopped working around round 6-7.
