Because he is not doing enough to win these fights. He is doing enough to survive and then hoping for the judges to be generous and crying when they are not.

Lets be real. Hopkins is not going to be on boxing after dark or ESPN Friday night fights again so if he can't start winning against these top guys I really don't see what else is left for him

You're trying to reason with the unreasonable.

What will it take? Just one thing, let Kelly Pavlik walk through his shield and blast him to Palookaville... Somehow, I doubt that and all you Hopkins haters may find yourself schewing your tongues and scratching your testicles.

I like Hopkins a lot and can acknowledge that he's slipping now.

But I still thought he beat Calzaghe. I don't think he'll beat Pavlik but I can hope.

I guess that means should favor Fraizer if he should come back and challenge Wlad. After all he is a legend right? I am not hating on what hopkins has accomplished all I am saying is that people need to come to the realization that he is a shell of what he used to be and stop using the same cliche prediction that he is too slick or crafty for whoever it is that he is fighting. It is not is not craftiness, it is just basic survival at this point

How is it just survival at this point?

In his last 3 fights he ran over the #1 LHW in the world, who was a 4-1 favorite and was in quite a lot of top 10 P4P lists at the time, he clearly outpointed and tactically picked apart a 2-1 favorite over him that was in everyone's top 5 P4P, and lost a very close decision to a fighter who is one of the top 3 P4P in the sport right now.

He may be in relative terms a "shell" of his former self, but he's still good enough to beat a lot of top guys. Once Hopkins is flat out beaten by somebody, then he should call it quits, but the last last time that happened was 15 years ago. He very well may beat Pavlik, and if he does will you say he needs to retire?

He is a shell of what he used to be but the style he applies is still dangerous enough for anyone as he already proved. You're saying the exact same thing almost everyone said about him before fighting Tarver simply because he lost to Taylor before going for that fight. He showed a lot of activity against Tarver and Wright, the Calzaghe fight was a different story but as far as I remember it was Hopkins who dropped Calzaghe and hurt him numerous times despite losing, it was still a close battle.

Pavlik's style is not hard to predict for Hopkins and if he shows he can keep his punches up for 12 rounds he can win this.

Almost everyone wrote him off before Tarver, means nothing really.

I wouldn't want to bank on that--his best chance is an early knockout

Don't think so, how many times have Pavlik gone 12 rounds in his career?, if he goes 12 he's going to go 12 with someone who is USED to going twelve and a man who will fight and try to steal as many rounds as possible. I know Hopkins is old but if he fights well enough here and keeps the activity up then Pavlik is in serious danger considering the difference in skill.

Hopkins is still very capable. He is a very intelligent fighter and has a wealth of experience. He trains consistently and has always kept himself in tremendous condition. This is why at 44 he can still compete at the top level.
But lets not be fooled he is no longer the young Hopkins and this will always become apparant againts the young strong powerful elites of the sport.

He has a defensive style and should never really get hurt also Hopkins will hang them up when he no longer can compete he has that much pride as an athlete.
