Has Imp the cowardly clown found a bit of courage?
No doubt you will be backing away from the keyboard after typing . Still you can always come back and edit whatever rubbish you reply with.

    bailey,

    You're entitled to your opinion.

All I was doing was showing Joe that Toney was highly rated at the time Roy fought him.

No, but that was 8 years later, and Roy was obviously happy with those terms in 2003.

But in 1995, he and the Levin brothers weren't.

    Anybody can call anybody out.

But HBO confirmed that Roy offered him 7 figures in 1996, and at that point in time, he'd never made a million dollars for a fight.

His manager also said he blew a great fight by going back and asking for more money. He then branded him foolish, and left him.

So that's more than enough evidence for me.

    bailey,

You'd have to ask Roy. But he's said that whenever he's worked with Don, he made sure it was always on his terms.

We don't need to know the specifics.

    We know enough.

What Jack O' Halloran and Jim Lampley said, speaks volumes.

When someone asks me why Roy wasn't willing to deal with King early in his career but was happy to later?

I always come back with I hated my wife in high school but we have been happily married for nearly 6 years...

    Feelings and circumstances can change.

Why was Roy willing to work with his father later after a rough break?

It is a pointless question to me.

    I've missed him also.

    He's an entertainer.

Roy said he turned him down in the early 90's, when Don offered him a Julian Jackson fight.

He said he wanted future options with lots of stipulations.

I believe the agreement for the Ruiz fight, was that Don had to be the promoter while ever Roy defended the WBA belt.

But yes, everyone's circumstances change over time.

Roy has worked with Don a number of times throughout his career, but only with terms that he was happy with.

I know he did the Tarver fights, Ruiz and Trinidad fights.. Where there any other ones I missed from earlier? To be honest I was young and only cared about the fights and didn't give too much thought into the promoter.

    Good question.

I think he came close a few times, but I think Ruiz was the first time, because Murad Muhammad either had a decent relationship with Don, or he was confident he could work with him.
