Old school fight fans who know the sport,they get it.
Tor Hamer for example. He was a prospect and then he suffered one decision loss and people forgot about him. But he came back and won the UK prizefighter and has developed into a damn good boxer/puncher who creates angles and has been stoppin' people early of recent.
one or two losses is nothing and people who know the history of Boxin' understand that.

 

Mitchell gets some solid support, as did Arreola until he showed up out of shape and let fans down.

We're not the UK. We don't get sucked into hype as easily. If any of those guys was British there would be ATG threads and claims that every fighter was ducking them.

took Wlad 50 fights to reach his "chin prime" and he was nearly knocked out of it against Wach a week agoc

And yeah UK loves hype,look at Haye. Haye is a legend over there and like most legends,we hear of it but never see it.

And of course David Price is the nest HW champ because he beat up John Mcdermott.

 

Froch has accomplished more than these guys. But Ricky Burns is about their same level and look at how the Brits rave about him.

 

And also his stamina issues have reappeared with the first fight after the loss of the great Manny Steward. Wlad was breathing erratically in the second half of the fight. As much as Wlad does he just has never seemed like the champ.
Something about him. It's like he has false confidence. He can unravel at anytime.

And how could you leave Bryant Jennings off your list? He has arguably the most potential of all the American HW's, short of Wilder.

Find me two heavyweights in the current crop who can replicate Frazier/Quarry 1, Ali/Frazier 1 or 2, Walcott/Marciano 1, Quarry/Chuvalo, Holmes/Berbick, et, et, and I'll get behind them no matter where they're from.

 

Its not so much that American fight fans don't get behind the Heavyweights (or other fighters). Its got alot to do with the media outlets, TV in general. FOX, CBS, SPIKETV, ETC. showcase MMA, Strikeforce, EliteXC, UFC types of fights and put boxing on the back-burner. The only time you will see boxing on non-premium channels or PPV is when NBCSports or ESPN Friday Night Fights has it scheduled and most of the time NASCAR or TENNIS runs late, and American boxing fans get stuck missing an exciting undercard fight.
The last boxing card I can recall on NBC (not NBCSports) was Calvin Brock vs Terry Smith back in 2004.
　
America is being saturated with gimmick MMA style fights. Fans are being sold on cheap knockouts (tapouts). Its pathetic that most Americans can't name the Heavyweight Champions of the World, let alone name an astronaut, but they can name the no-name palooka that fought on UFC...only because its re-broadcast numerous times on basic American television.
Go to any American city and you will see numerous MMA clubs/gyms but you will hardly find a boxing gym.
