Call it hype. Call it blind faith. Call it whatever you want but the fact that us "brittards" don't feel the need to wait until someone is at the top of the tree to jump on the band wagon should not be sneered at. Support someone through thick and thin or not at all. Is a testament to character if anything. The idea that someone should not be hyped until they are proven is a farce. That is not how support is defined. Or should we do away with the prospect tag altogether and only televise a fighter that is already a champ? Sure Haye, froch, burns, calzaghe, Hatton etc may not all end up with hall of fame careers asbut they're the best we've got or have had in recent times. Is it so wrong to think you've got a shot at glory? However slim the chance May be? If the lowest team in the nba turned up to play someone like the lakers and didn't think they at least had a chance to win then they shouldn't be playing the game. If the fans didn't think that their team May cause an upset then they should stay at home. Just because we are not fickle does not make us delusional!
Nobody's going to like this, but Americans (that are casual fans) for the most part are frontrunners. That's why we don't really give a damn about soccer. We're not the best. And even when we are, our world doesn't begin and end with that ****. There's no sense of national pride for us when it comes to boxing, because we have more interest in other sports. Look at the super six. Nobody here in America gave a damn about that Europe v America bull****. America is far more disjointed than people think.
Even then, a lot of Americans didn't even care about the super six. And no one (outside of the olympics) chant's USA for boxing anymore. This isn't the 50's lol. I've noticed a lot of people have a really outdated view of how Americans think.
No Crazy8s i think it proves your point lol, even americans dont understand other americans and how they will react. The problem with all these threads is they are a perfect setting for tribalism. All the USA vs UK or Europe stuff is no differant to the stuff u find in a Premier League Football forum. It then becomes a London vs Manchester insult trade ect. Truth is we all vocally support "our" teams or fighters when in an arena like a stadium or a forum but if we was all to meet in a pub on a night out im pretty sure many would actually get on just fine When this type of support stops THATS time we all need to worry because thats the time these sports have truly died.
Lol, I agree. Truth be told. A lot of people don't really know that Northern California is vastly different from Southern California. Or that all of the state of New York doesn't look like New York city lol.
By support I meant i'll watch the fights HBO shoves down our throat until they realize he ain't going to beat a KLIT. Like tonight for instance, Rather be watching Marquez Vs. Viloria but HBO thinks featuring Seth Mitchell is better for the sport :nut
Mitchell and Wilder arent even on Chisora's level, lets not mention Haye and Price its just embarrassing for you guys
