    A few thoughts:

King thought he could take advantage of the Hispanic PPV market with Ruiz as a 'champion' too bad he picked a guy with no skills and an awful boring style. Ruiz was a creation by King to try and bilk the Latino community and it failed.

If you want to really see how shitty of a fighter Ruiz really was watch the Jones Jr. fight where he was forced to fight by the RULES by Jay Nady. He was atrocious and that fight showed how limited he was when he was forced to fight by the rules. Wonder why Nagy NEVER reffed a Ruiz fight after that I am sure Don King had nothing to do with it.:rofl:patsch

  5. Didn't really like Ruiz as a fighter, but seems like a straight up dude, who had balls enough to get in the ring with a lot of dangerous fighters:deal..

Fought Jones jr, Holy 3x, Valuev 2x, Haye, Tua, Rahman, Golata, Jimmy Thunder, Toney, Oquendo..

The quiet man had steel in his balls, shouldn't have been so hated, by soo many internet keyboard Warriors...:-:)nono:verysad

The first half of your post you must have him confused with Tito Trinidad..or something

the second had nothing to do with them fearing him on the contrary they refused to step into the ring with him because he was such an inferior opponent and lousy draw that not only would they not make any money, but it would be a one sided ass beating that would nothing for them professionally........No money, no notoriety where is the incentive....You can google the history on it, Lewis even had his belt relinquished because on paper Ruiz was the mandatory opponent....and he still said no.

Ruiz is a fraud, a cheater, and a joke who ripped off fans of the boxing matches they paid to see, and robbed his opponents of their opportunity to win WITHIN the rules.

Instead of just looking at the names on his record, people should consider what actually happened in those fights!

    Lost to Jones
Cheated against Holyfield (excessive holding, faked low blows), and barely "won" at that.
    Lost to Valuev
Beaten to a pulp and knocked out by Haye
    Knocked cold by Tua
    Held excessively against Rahman
    Gift decision against Golata
    Faked low blows against Thunder
    Lost to Toney
    Held excessively against Oquendo.

Ruiz HAD to cheat because he had all the boxing skills of a high grade clubfighter. Without King, he would have been lucky to win a regional title.
