I'm hoping that the news that there is no bout betweeen Floyd Mayweather Jr. & Manny Pacquiao is either a hoax to help promote the fight, or in some other way missleading. This is probbly not the case. However it would be great if we learn tomarow that they have come to terms and the fight is happening. This is probbly not the case and the fight is indeed off. I have done my best to view this with an open mind. However every peice of information that I have come across leads me to the conclusion that Manny Pacquiao is responseable for the fight not taking place. I have had the felling that the decision may have been more from Freddy Roach and/or Bob Arum more than Pacquiao himself. I beleve this because they are both very knoldgable about boxing and might understand that Mayweather is a bad match up for Pacquiao. However Roach works for Pacquiao and Arum works on his behalf. Pacquiao could have overridden them at any time. If either Mayweather or Pacquiao fight in March it will not be against anyone who is precived by them or the genreal boxing public to be a real threat to them. All though nothing has been confermed Mayweather has been rummored to be facing Alfonso Gomez, Pauli Malignaggi or Matthew Hatton next. Pacquiao seems to have a confermed bout with Yuri Foreman lined up. I'm honestly not bothered by this. I will be bothered if they don't fight each other or take on a more worthy oponent in their next fights. However in all honesty I think Foreman is going to pull off the upset. I think that Mayweather will get a shot at Shane Mosley if he beats Andre Berto. I think Mosley who offered to fight Pacquiao at a catchweight only to be turned down by Pacquiao in order to fight Miguel Cotto would not only agree to random testing but would let them draw his blood during the prefight introductions. I don't think we are going to see Golden Boy Productions and Top Rank working together anytime soon. If Berto Wins I don't know who has the inside track on him. Besides Mosley and Breto some good opoents for Mayweather and Pacquiao would be. Joshua Clottey 147 Luis Collazo 147 Paul Williams 147 or 154 Yuri Foreman for Mayweather should he beat Pacquiao 154 Sergio Martinez 154. I still hold out hope that Mayweather/Pacquiao will happen in 2010.
Here's my rant. If Floyd doesn't want to be remembered as a ducker who's ducked every good welterweight, he'd better call out the winner of Mosley-Berto.
sad day for boxing :-( The only opponents im interested in seeing, and IMO are respectable for these two are 1 - Winner of Mosley/Berto 2 - Bradley 3 - Williams ---------------------------- solid tune up style fights are - Collazo - Clottey ------------------------------
the negotiations for the fight started on the wrong foot with all the steriod allegations. the mayweathers ****ed boxing. i'm gonna watch MMA again.
