Some of you will have seen it before, some of you may find it a bit overstated but I think this is a lovely video. It might be read-dependant, and it helps if you know a little about Liston - his respect for churchmen, his misery concerning the lack of fanfare when he lifted the title, his fear and hatred of lawmen, for example - but hopefully anyone who watches it will be able to pull something out of it. I've seen it before and it used to be my favorite tribute video until the first time I saw Pernell Whitaker's (which is more of a highlight video than actual tribute about the man himself). H2H Sonny is a top 5 heavyweight in my opinion, and when taking in their overall career a definite top 10. Liston always struck me as a very misunderstood man, one with a bad past that always wanted to escape it but never could. He's one of the most interesting boxers of all-time, and strangely one of my favorites.
Interesting man. Really great fighter too. That jab of his gets me every time I see those video clips
Also, I found one that's about 10 minutes long and is more of a discussion about Liston, Floyd Patterson and Hank Kaplan talk about him (as do others I can't remember). I enjoyed that one a lot as well, I think it was called "Sonny Liston - A Man." Goes into Liston's personal life, of which I've always been intrigued by.
Whoever put this together actually has a pretty good eye for what made Liston a special fighter, though obviously it isn't that type of highlights reel.
Liston's arm looks incredibly long at 2:14 in that video. I don't think the 84" reach is an exaggeration!
