As I thought...here are the WBC rules governing Knockdowns.

    11. Knockdowns:
 There is no automatic TKO with 3 knockdowns in one round.
 There is no standing eight count.
 There will be a mandatory 8 count after a knockdown (when 3 parts
of the body touch the canvas).
 If the ropes prevent a fighter from going down, the referee will call it a
    knockdown.
 If a fighter falls outside the ring and ring apron, he will have 20
seconds to come back to the ring without assistance, unless the
    referee orders it.

you're probably talking to one of the biggest dog advocates out there buddy, what the g-man did was wrong no doubt. but he participated in a grand total of ONE, i repeat, ONE dog fight and regretted doing it. your acting like this guy was mike vick, now THAT **** is sick.

again, you're making a big deal about something he participated in ONCE in his life when he was really young and naiive. i believe he stopped doing it after he realized how cruel it was. so i guess redemption and forgiveness is not your cup of tea, i bet you've done something in your life that society would probably frown upon. my father used to be an avid drug abuser when he was young, but he cleaned his **** up, graduated from the university of michigan with a doctorate's degree in law. so does that mean its right for people to forever label him as a drug abuser despite cleaning himself up and making something of himself?? man, you'd be right at home in 1500's salem, massachussets.

yea, you clearly dont know **** about him or his past. so thanks for clearing that up, because you would know he personally jumped in and resued his dog from further punishment and hasnt participated in it since. i bet all you did is went to his wikipedia entry, saw "dog fights" and immediately went up in arms without doing any research. :-(

    and **** you too:D

Your nuts:nut:nut:nut Mccellan was a helluva alot better than Lacey. Benn just stepped it up and fought the best fight he ever did in his life after showing great recuparative powers in a fight that would have been stopped in the 1st round anywhere outside of England.

I'd heard very different reports from you.

also taking drugs is completly different from tieing up a dog and throwing into a pack of fighting dogs to be ripped apart, killing his dogs whenthey lost and so on. If you're going to use an example, maybe think of a more relevent one that that:think

    And **** you too:D

Damn:patsch There you go again did you ever see the freakin fight?:huh Lacey was dominated by Calzaghe. However the Mccellan-Benn fight was an absolute back and forth War, your observations make no sense. Ive seen many wars throughout the Years and this was one of the most exciting and competetive wars i have ever seen.

To the original point.I had heard this before. It was from Bunce again and on a discussion on boxing and its dangers. Benn was interviewed on the same programme. He seemed pretty sure of his facts
Whatever you think of McClellan he didnt deserve what happened
The fight was one of the most brutal i have seen

In NO WAY do i condone it but dogfighting is quite common in some parts of the UK, and i've heard of it in other countries such as Russia and Mexico.

A question to all those saying Mclellan deserved what happened to him.

If YOU ran the state and made the laws, what punishment would you inflict on people caught dogfighting?

A whole life sentence of suffering and mental disfunction seems slightly disproportionate to me.

I am not as a hardcore fan as most of you. If someone can enlighten me, what did he do or at least, accused of doing disgraceful in the past?

    Thanks

I wouldn't inflict it on anyone really, but having said that It happened and I think happened to a deserving person.

Of course. Benn was not a technician and that is the way his fights were. Mostly hard fought, a bit like Froch's fights.

    Doesn't change anything.

Froch had an absolute war with Magee.

Lacy had wars with Wiggins, Sheika etc. Wars that people were VERY excited about.

Anyway - people who believe in this whole illusion are pretty impossible to make come around, because too many things change if they change their minds. So let's just agree to disagree - little point discussing this I'm sure.

In my oppinion, the SMW division was VERY weak and pretty much only UK fighters bothered. Gerald had pretty much the same story Lacy did... hyped, and beaten on his first real test. This does not make neither Benn and especially not Gerald a great fighter. Imo. Benn was a good fighter about the level of Froch today (which is good). Gerald was no better than Allen Green is - not at all.

:lol::lol: Believe im not one that is biased towards fighters from the past, but i rate Benn as a much better fighter than Froch. I also think Mccellan is way better than Green or Lacey.
