Valuev was a good contender. Made most of his size and was well-guided through the ranks. His fight with Liakhovic was pretty impressive, but most other wins was "just enough to win" - in some cases less than that, i.e. vs Donald. Still, Chagaev is the only one who clearly beat him. Ruiz, Donald and Holyfield could've gotten the verdict in a different universe.

Once his opponents found out that he can't do anything if you run for 12 rounds while landing a flurry or two each round, he was struggling more and more each next fight. It also became harder to market him because those fights are generally boring.

I'm still a bit pissed that he blatantly avoided fights with either Klitschko. He openly admitted he wanted no part of them.. stupid, he could've gotten a nice payday when he was on his way out.

He actually moved pretty good when he was younger:

Huge bloke. I mean, David Haye is a big man in his own right and Valuev makes him look like a bearded child:

Didn't use his size advantage all that well. Could've and should've roughed people up a lot more, instead of trying to be Jimmy Young. Not a bad career, but nothing special.

If we take the WBC, WBA, IBF and WBO as the "alphabet titles", I'd say Nicolay Valuev is right near the bottom of the list of alphabet titlists.

This is not fair. He is not feather fisted. Surely, he's not a good puncher when it comes down to P4P power. I would say he's big, and decently heavy-handed. His technique, and mainly inability to get leverage because of his size and lack of coordination may help explain why he is rather fair of a puncher. He's a giant which is why he doesn't punch like a fly, though.

He would be an absolute sitting duck against Foreman and Liston. It would be brutal. At least he may go the distance against Holmes and Ali. Outclassed, but not dead.

Personally, I would like to see Frazier, Dempsey, and Marciano against Valuev. Just to see how brutal... or perhaps interesting those fights could get. Maybe I'm sick.

I actually scored his fights with both Haye and Chagaev draws. Only saw each fight once when they happened, though.

He would have ran over Foreman and certainly over Liston whom could never had reached his chin anyway .

I watched his fight against Chagaev and Chagaev never beat him .
    A draw is d 1 single most correct result 4 it .
