Jacobs adapted and fought GGG exactly how Canelo will, countering off the backfoot. That wasn't Jacobs usual style, and although he did very well he's not nearly as proficient or experienced as Canelo in executing that gameplan. Canelos a better counterpuncher than Jacobs, more comfortable going backwards and controlling range with superior defense and a sturdier chin. Canelo has all the tools to take that blueprint and improve on it, only thing he's lacking is Jacobs length. I expect a competitive fight over 12 with Canelo getting the decision.

Don't forget the power difference. Jacobs has fight ending power which had GGG very tentative

Canelo has the power to keep GGG honest, plus faster hands. GGG will be as cautious in getting his shots off as he was against Jacobs.

Thanks man it means a great deal to Serge to have reached the milestone of 1500 likes again.

I say again because it isn't the first time Serge has achieved it. In fact, Serge's like tally was considerably higher than that before someone upstairs in admin decided to reset it to zero out of pure jealously and spite.

You could be right about GGG having zero decline at all. But that would be an uphill battle biologically. At 35 inevitable declines in physical ability, especially in areas such as speed, recovery and stamina are concerned are unavoidable. It's not like you just say "Nah, that's not going to happen to me". Yea, no.

Nice assessment except your scoring of GGG vs Jacobs.

116-111 is the fairest score, GGG having won 8 pretty clearly in most ppls eyes.

However, yeah, DJ did present GGG with a completely different set of skills/attributes than would anyone else at LMW/MW/SMW.
Closest would be Ward if he came back down, but he doesnt have DJs speed or power, so........

About time CST80 always enjoy your articles, that GGG v Jacobs as you rightly say is a high quality affair and gets better every time I watch it,both guys are on song and what's more the respect for each other is great to see with both guys nodding and bowing to each other at the end of each round, actually re Jacobs I think it's very telling how many rounds he thought he won and the same for Golovkin showing that even in the heat of battle the fighters usually know the score(see Wards face after Kovalev).
I guess what you're saying is that whilst Canelo facing a bigger man in Chavez looked risky in truth it was anything but, even if Chavez had of fought better there was zero chance of him hurting Canelo at that weight.
So many fans on here seem to forget the levels to boxing and both Floyd and Lara and Trout gave Canelo a loss and two close hard fights, would liked to have seen him have two or three fights at middleweight maybe against one of GGGs old opponents.

I don't think Canelo will land a genuine shot on GGG before the 4th.

He'll lunge a few times and land a few hip shots, like he did v Lara, but mostly he'll be whiffing with the hook or R hand counter or hitting gloves with his jab.

GGG could literally just beat him down with the jab for 12 rds and roll away everytime Canelo gets in range.

But....he aint gonna be listening to the cards go against him, so he'll make Canelo pay with Lhooks to the ribs and R hands to the solar plexus but only after he's nuetralise Canelo's handspeed by frustrating him with his technical superiority with his footwork.

You're damn straight it's more, a whole lot more, and each like was absolutely deserved too.

Thanks but I've never been the type to blow my own trumpet. It's just not my style. I'm way too modest and humble to indulge in such things. I leave that for my fan base to do, a fan base which let me just add is growing at a simply staggering exponential rate with each passing day lol
