Thanks to ggg and his new alliance of fans its all people talk about now, rightfully so but cotto gets no props, he never chooses his opponents his team and trainer does his whole career he has never ducked. Nobody gave him a chance against martinez we all know he isnt a real middleweight. He has nothing left to prove let him get that canelo payday, the ggg fight isnt going anywhere and will only be bigger down the road

He's also not getting much credit because Martinez was a shell of his former self when they fought.... GGG would annihilate Cotto, and any true boxing fan knows this. Cotto deserves some props for reinventing himself with Roach, and winning the lineal title... But lets be realistic here, Martinez is a shell of his former self and definitely a textbook example of "becoming old over night" Martinez was dumb to come back to the ring in his current forum, he should have retired after Murray......

Every fighter silencing the group of ******s that pick against him leading up to a fight is immediately overlooked if he overcomes and proves the group of ******ed trash wrong. Obviously ******s are stubborn by nature to maintain their ******ed nature and secure it for the rest of their pointless lives.

Just look at Hopkins' career, all his wins are immediately overlooked by the same group of ******s that today pretend they knew he will win all along.

Martinez is definitely a shell of his former self, was coming off serious injuries and inactive for over a year. However, people still picked him to demolish Cotto and the odds weren't even remotely close. All those factors can't be ignored today despite the realities(which were also overlooked by the general public) involving Martinez.

I have nothing wrong with Cotto getting one big payday, he's earned it.... But if he becomes a bum crusher like Quillin...... He deserves all the flack in the world. I don't see that happening though, Cotto isn't a coward.

I agree. I was one of those people.. Either way Cotto pulled a major upset and deserves his kudos.

Cotto is at the end of his career, he has no time for "bum crushing".

cotto took the fight, he won it, the same one the supposed TBE wouldnt take and fans backed him up because martinez was too big, cotto desevres a lot of respect

People will look at it at hindsight but the fact is, cotto stepped up and fought martinez. It's easy for these keyboard warriors to say now that martinez is a shell of his former self but before the fight, they thought that martinez would brutally stop cotto, who by the way is also a shell of his former self.

I don't understand this. It doesn't make a difference who's choosing the fight.

But in a sense I agree with you, he has nothing left to prove. Let him get his payday and retire. But he's not a middleweight champ in my eyes. He fought well and had an amazing game plan but Roach just picked Martinez at the right time.

What Cotto did was very brave, but it's not the fans' fault that both during and after the fight the attention focussed on Maravilla's huge decline instead of Cotto's accomplishment.

And then Golovkin reduces yet another challenger to a good boy and it's not strange he gets the (deserved) attention.
If Cotto wants to take that attention away, he should just fight GGG and show the world that his "middleweight victory is overlooked".

Nobody overlooked. It was obvious. LONG shorts over TWO KNEE BRACES. Under Martinez shorts is a tag that reads, knees made in china. OPEN YOUR EYES! Cotto couldn't even beat Trout. :patsch

cotto fans should just keep golovkin's name out of their mouth, they know cotto is scared and trying to drain golovkin. just stick to celebrating the win against an old shot fighter in martinez
