According to this, out of the 7 you listed, 3 fighters were negatively impacted by the catchweight, and for 3 of the fights - the titles were not on the line. It looks like the same debates have gone on since the beginning of the catchweights. This does not prove either case (title should/should not be on the line). It is something that the fighters themselves need to decide on, and we need to not worry about it and enjoy the fight - regardless.

I said it would be a great fight, and if Pac wins, he gets full credit from me, but other fans will use the 145 catch weight and say he weakened Cotto. I want PAc to gain full props for everything he does in the ring so that when he faces Floyd, neither he nor Floyd will be criticized about anything...

For the most part, I agree. The post was more about the hysteria on the board regarding Cotto's title being on the line (or not, or whatever), I wanted to show that there was precident for that. Situational is the right word.

As long as I am free to ignore them, I don't mind.

My post isn't based upon that logic at all. Apart from one glaring error  my post is accurate in it's examples of a process that is normal in the sports hisotry. There's been confusion about this on the board. Whether or not Cotto and Pacquaio fight at a catchweight will be decided in the details of that negotiation, whether or not Cotto's title is on the line will be decided on the details of the negotiation, what I hope this post shows is that both are normal practice with precidents. If it was decided upon by the two fighters, it would be reasonable.

I have no idea how Pacquiao's nuts, or the nuts of any other fighter taste. I'm interested in the truth. In my experience, accusations of nut-hugging usually only come from the worst kind of hater. Just saying.

If you mean, "catchweights are rare", you are quite correct. Hold the website's front page.
