Mr. Barrett, I have never been a big fan but I must admit a few things. You have never came in to the fight under-prepeared or fat. You always gave it all you had. And you never gave up your will to win even if you were outmatched. I watched your fight against Tua that you clearly won despite being a huge underdog. You won that fight! And so that even if you never became a world champion. I would like to thank you for providing ample entertainment throughout your career and I hope your retirement will bring you closer to you loved ones and wish you a healthy, long life. Vladimir.
Agreed, he was a good heavyweight and what a great note to retire on aside from the predictably dodgy decision. I thought it was a close fight actually but the 10-7 round probably shoulda edged it for him. He was a very good heavyweight in his late 20s/early 30s but it seems most of his big fights came after he was getting a bit old, which was a shame The 1st round KO of Tye Fields was a victory for boxing as well
Compared to current US heavyweights- he always came into shape EVEN in his late years and he came to fight. That alone puts him on a level above IMHO.
Way 2 go 2 gunz!! I was in attendance in Arkansas years ago when he upset my boy at the time Dominick Guinn.. Glad he went out by giving Tua all he could handle.
Mr. Wlad, I'm a big fan of your work and you are dating a younger women to boot, lol On a serious not do you think Vitali is the better fighter or do you think you are?
:thumbsup Barrett deserves a lot of respect from boxing fans (and gets it from what I've read). He's had a great career, been in with some fantastic fighters and I hope he's saved enough money to live comfortably now
