If anyone thinks that Margarito would EVER land the punches on Mayweather that he landed on Cotto througout the fight really dont know much about boxing. His punches were slow, wide, and predictable. Cotto boxed a very good fight IMO but he isnt a defensive minded fighter like Mayweather although he tried to fight on the defensive. This is where Mayweather would excel vs Margarito, DEFENSE is embedded into his style while COTTO tried to insert that into his gameplan. Also Mayweather has far better stamina than Cotto and wouldnt get tired in a fight vs Margarito. If anyone has seen the Clotty-Margarito fight then you should already know what the outcome of Mayweather-Margarito would be.:deal

Cotto was dodging and rolling with most till he gassed. But I agree Mayweather wouldn't be hit by those wide looping punches.

He'll land some thats a given because of all the punches he throws. I must say though he made cotto look like whitaker at some points. He also wont land as many CLEAN shots on Pbf either

I'm a huge Mayweather fan but I have to admit that Margarito would break him down and KO him quicker than he did to Cotto. Mayweather realized this and retired instead of facing Cotto or Margo. Floyd was too smart to let himself be beat like a dog for a measley 10mil.

UM OK...his pressure would not be effective vs Mayweather. Mayweather would hit him and be out of the way. Mayweather would also go to the body throughout the fight. Margarito's punches would slip off & or miss Mayweather all night and he wouldnt land anything clean. Mayweather's accuracy & defense would be the difference.

Balls?...he has moved up from 130...he is 39-0, he has won 6 World Titles in 5 different weight classes and was P4P # 1 in the world....having balls has nothing to do with him not fighting Margarito...if anything its more "politics" than anything.....trust that:good

If it was a case of having balls then why would a 130lb fighter move up to 154 to fight a man who was fighting Middleweights? :huh

Let me guess...Margarito is a better fighter than De La Hoya now?:nono

You underestimate Floyd's defense and Chin and ability not to take shots flush

Mayweather knew he would have extreme difficulty in defeating the likes of Margarito, Cotto, or Williams so instead of getting involved with the silly business of actually fighting these guys to prove who the best in the division is, he fought DLH and Hatton for big money and retired.

Hatton was higher on the P4P list than Cotto, Margarito & Williams & DLH was a bigger DRAW than all of them combined.....

    who would u have fought?:good

Your boy ducked him already therefor I say he doesn't have the balls to fight him. Now you could say it was cause of the money or popularity reasons but it is what it is :deal

    Two questions.

Why did Margo keep his date with Gomez and not fight Floyd, when the offer was on the table?

Why did Margo and Arum offer Floyd the fight when Floyd was injured?

I agree. The match up in styles is more favorable Floyd. He would just say that Margarito fights just like Baldomir but taller and with more heart and determination. Floyd has the defensive skills, boxing skills, and stamina to keep up what Cotto did for the 1st six rounds for THE WHOLE FIGHT. Basically, Cotto-Margarito was a tale of 2 fights. Unfortunately for Cotto, fights last for 12 rounds, not 6.
