At the time live, I gave froch 2 rounds max before round 9. Last night watching it again, gave him 2 rounds still and that was with 1 round quite close going to him. Had the fight went the distance, froch would have got a UD or MD on the judges scorecard, outrageous.

From watching live and being in shock of Groves doing so well and Watt and the other guy hyping him up made a big effect I think. Rewatchign it I hear Watt calling Groves a 'hero' in round 3. Watt was actively belittling Froch's work and ignoring his flurries, just saying that Groves landed the end shot. When Froch was throwing Watt was saying it was 'forced; and 'he has no confidence in his punches' etc.

Watching it back Froch had some good moment throughout the fight. Live it seemed like he never landed a shot on Groves or backed him up until the final flurry. He actually got in some decent digs in each round and definitely the last few. The final barrage was a sustained chasing around the ring where Froch hurt him twice before getting him in the end.

Definitely deserves a proper rewatching and probably best without Watt and the other guy's hyperbole.

So I take it you didn't watch it with Tyson Fury.

Have just rewatched it, no sound with Jim Watt or crowd bias. I give Froch 3 rounds at best3rd 5th and 8th, though how Froch isnt deducted a point of use of the forearm in the 8th is outrageous!
You could agree for even on the 6th but a round like that you cant sit on the fence! Scoring shots go down the middle so I give it to Groves, Froch's work in that round but also most of the fight is just flurries of arm shots that look like they are doing a lot more than what is actually getting through. Then you have the jab that I can only assume people are scoring for being thrown, rarely lands flush or accurately at all.

Then theres the stoppage. Right, if as Carl has been saying, George was on his way to the floor and falls into the ref (wrong) then why is he not getting the 10 count Froch was afforded round 1. Alternatly Frochs other line, he had free shots lined up, if true is he starting before or after he starts unloading on the midriff of Groves while being held open due to the refs headlock?

Dont get me wrong Froch is definitely forming more aggression and may have came on strong but Groves still had superior movement and his jab was landing at will, shouldnt have been drawn in to a scrap massively cost him....

Who remembers another fight where Jim Watt was constantly praising one fighter and one fighter only in a competitive bout? There's one in particular and I can't remember which ...

I thought 6 was the easiest to score other than 1.

re watched, groves up by two rounds going into round nine, taking into account the 10-8 round 1. Froch clearly coming back into the fight, having successes of his own. Stoppage was harsh, but believe Froch was coming on strong, and that a further 15-20 second would have brought a much more clinical finish. Groves will come again, re-match makes sense.
