Pavlik should just move up to 168 and forget Martinez really, though this is a massive over-reaction.

 

Martinez should gauge where a fight with Mayweather is, if he thinks he can get Mayweather to fight him at 160. He should tell Kelly Pavlik to take a hike on his rematch at 164. If not, He should agree, BUT have a rehydration clause that demands Kelly doesn't come in above 172 or so by fight night.

 

If there was a rematch clause, then the terms would have been set at that time is my guess, just like it was with Taylor. I see very little reason for the fight if it is not at 160.

 

I went to the site you hinted and I can't find this. And no, Martinez is not in the drivers seat if terms were set in the previous contract.

I pointed out at the weigh in that Pavlik was looking drained and weak and was drinking water as soon as he stepped off the scale.

Pavlik shouldnt even be at MW anyways. The dude gets into the ring at at LHW. He just needs to man up and stop draining himself. Who knows he might benefit from the climb in weight. Although i see why he would hesitate fighting at 168. Too many sharks in that weight class.

 

Martinez is under no obligation to do so, so he can rightly tell them to **** off and there is nothing Pavlik or Uncle Bob can do. He better no bend to those demands, he is the man no, Pavlik can **** off and fight Bute if he can't make weight.

 

You appear to be oblivious to the fact that the rematch is contractually obliged should Pavlik demand it.

It might depend on what is in the rematch clause, the clause might state that it has to be at 160. Not that it matters anyway, Martinez won convincingly at 160 and Pavlik is having trouble making that weight anyway. I can't see Martinez losing a rematch with Pavlik, Kelly should just cut his losses and move up to 168 which would be a more natural weight for him.
