</H1>http://www.thesweetscience.com/boxing-article/5984/world-boxing-league-set-debut/ what do you think, genius or plain stupid?
plain stupid. You want to compare boxing to a similar major sport (in terms of management), look no further than Tennis. Major team sports have city-based teams, its completely different
stupid, boxing's problems have nothing to do with timetables and team allegances. To me that is the best part, it is year round. I hope for this guys sake he dosn't go through with it, he will fail misserably.
I like the idea of something new happening in boxing. Im not big on the format above, but if it looks after the interests of the boxers and prevents many of the current problems (promotors, picking opponents, ducking and scoring issues) then im interested. Maybe it will fail but inspire a new format that is better. Don't like the 5 round thing. I'd still watch it.
I think Id like it, have it in the same format as high school wrestling. 6 points to your team if you ko your guy, & 3 points if you decision him. The world cup between the PI and Mex last August was real fun and so was the UK vs US contender thing, keeping the score of how many of each country's fighters won, i wish they would do something like that in the future again. I dont think it should be done on a world class level as of yet, make it more of like a minor league thing.
sounds interesting. though i dont think i will succeed. but i like the idea. somethings wrong with pro boxing and something needs to be done.
I don't think it'd succeed (kind of like International Fight League, MMA's version of this) without significant financial backing so it had enough time to possibly gain traction, but I'd watch in a second if they could do something like that. I actually get a kick out of the concept, and we'd get to see regional fighters fight that we normally wouldn't. I also think pretty highly of their business plans for the fighters themselves. As I said, it'll be an uphill battle. I'd support it, though.
