Though he has quickly become the underdog (and that point I'm not arguing) coming into the Maccarinelli fight, I don't think Banks is getting enough credit. I've seen him fight live here in Detroit 7 times, and have seen 3 or 4 more on TV or Youtube, and with each outing he improves. I think sometimes if a prospect isn't mowing people down ala Andre Berto or Gambou, he gets a bad rap. He showed tremendous heart and poise in recovering from two knockdowns in the Castillo fight, and he definetly has punching power. I will admit his stamina has been a concern, but I would hope that perparing for a fight on this big of a stage would motivate a harder training regimine. The last fight with Rossitto had to have been a learning lesson for him. Having sparred with Klitschko should give him an edge, and he's definetly quicker than he's given credit. Hopefully he'll do well and start creating a bigger buzz for himself.

I think he'll get knocked out, but Banks has a good opportunity here to win a world title.. a much better opportunity than if he faced someone like Arslan, Alexeev, or Cunningham. Enzo's chin is very shaky and who knows, there's a realistic chance that Banks could land something big early on and stop him. Against the other titlists that chance wouldn't be there.

Great potential, but needs to keep his eye firmly on the ball, and get his conditioning work sorted out, his last outing almost cost him his reputation as a top class operator.. He isn't ready for the major league quite yet. Maccarinelli would beat him reletively easily if he doesn't start to get serious.

    He will win against Macca.

Macca lost his last bout by brutal KO. He did not make any fight since than.

Johanton will make it, he is the next Champion.

I think he has a very good chance against Macca. Last time out he was facing a southpaw on short notice, this time people will see the real Johnathon Banks.

One thing about Macca though, he hits hard.

I dunno, i liked Banks after he first started appearing on Klitschko cards with Andy Lee, but its been a while since he set the world alight, Maccarinelli is no clown, JB needs to show that he can dig deeper than that last outing before he starts talking about a world title... That is just constructive critisism.

Right :goodBanks sparred with Wladimir Klitschko and did not prepared for his bout so he could not show how good he is.

This time we will se a very good prepared Johanthon Banks and he will win by KO.

    Go Johanton :happy:happy:happy:happy

I'm glad to see a few supporters. Like I said, I'm not claiming Banks to be greatest fight out there...or even the greatest in his division. Just pointing out that everyone has a bad night here and there, and he definetly has a good shot to win a world title. I think in some cases people are too quick to judge. I remember reading posts about Pavlik being one dimensional and he would get exposed, and now those same people are putting him on top of the P4P lists. Being a prospect and moving up the ranks is a learning process, one you hope to learn from and still stay undefeated...having a few bad performances is all a part of gaining the experience needed for when you are ready to become champion. But I'm sure for the most part I'm preaching to the choir.

I have to admit that the Rossitto fight was the first time I had seen him.

After a bright start he appeared to lose it through the middle rounds before pulling out a big 12th.

Does he have bad stamina issues or problems maintaining focus, or was his last fight just a blip?

I like Banks too, but the edge here goes to Maccarinelli. Macca has more pro and better pro experience, and despite the loss to Haye, he's a dangerous fighter.

Banks was nearly stopped by the very average Castillo, but showed great heart. I think you guys are right, talented fighter, probably just inside the top 15 right now, but it all comes down to his conditioning and preparedness, two things that are NOT ever a question with Macca.

Banks is boring as hell to watch, slow and rigid.

He won't even beat a poor Macca.

Banks looked bad in his last fight but actually looked good in fights before that, he has a very good chance if he shows up in good enough condition. I'll pick him over Macc.
